Rise & Shine! The day is fine!

Actually, it's already 71 here, and humid!!! We had nice drizzly rain here last night, and more coming today. Good news. Maybe it will leave Moon alone for a while.

eggs & bacey sounds good.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, autumn begins today. It's also my anniversary. 20 years, seems like last week. We've been together 30, though.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Time to get ready for work. Everyone have a great day! See ya Lynnie..

that's pretty Trina...
Moon I thought those were fire ants too....
Smiley happy anniversary!
JJ I totally missed the corn field! lol Still not awake....

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Gosh, have a lot to catch up on here! Until then ......

Can you identify these 2 plants? Lowe's called them "foliage!" lol

Thumbnail by venice62
Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

on the right its a parlor palm and the one on the left looks lika a Dracaena

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, you are so good!!

I guess the palm is poisonous so I need to put that where Kitty can't get to it. She eats grass and was already trying to nibble on these.

Can the palm tolerate only filtered light at a low level?

What about the light for the other one?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

yes the palm can and I don't think it's poisonous or at least our cat use to chew on it and never got sick or anything....and yeah the other one can handle low light as well...the palm seems to prefer lower light rather than direct sunlight!

Some very nice additions venice, are those the 2 you blamed me for? LOL

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Lynnie the remake of Children of the Corn is on syfy Saturday night at 8.

Trina my sister bought some ROS at the nursey and I gave her a couple "sticks" that were from seeds that dropped off mine. The sticks bloomed before the nursery plants. If I don't get to the pods before they open I have hundreds of babies sprout every year.

Learn something new everyday from you moon. Gonna need a bigger notebook. :)

This is what mine looks like Trina

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I like it I didn't know ROS came in so many wonderful colors! they could be very useful in hiding a very ugly fence

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Yes, those are my $1 plants! Maybe they are ordinary plants so that should work well with my others!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Mine is the same as JJs. I also have hundreds of little starts all over the place. DH just keeps 'em mowed down. Also have white.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, I forgot to say that at the lower part of the palm there is like powery rust. Is that a disease?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

yeah it sounds like it but ou did get them at lowes so take a damp cloth and clean it off...if its just warehouse dust it will be fine if not it will come bac and you will have to treat it, but you'll have to ask Dave or Moon what to treat it with because I have no Idea

Morning Julie! am going to collect seeds from the ones the neighbor has and see how I fair with those! she also has a very neat azalea that I am tring to figure out what part is the seed so I can get some of those too!

and does any one know if you can get sweet autumn clematis to grow from clippings?

Thumbnail by trinawitch
Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Don't you have any seeds from your sweet autumn clematis?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I don't know what the seeds look like or how and when to collect them...they are on a fence of a house that is for sale...I was thinking about buying the house for a rental property, but I'd like some of that on my back fence

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

After the flower blooms, a swirly round green thing grows. Then it becomes fluffy. Pick them before they fall off. In the middle, attached to the fluffy thread things, are the seeds.

Moon, did I do better describing it this time?

Trina I found this pic maybe will help

Good morning everybody! Aloha kakahiaka!

The grooves in the leaflets of Venice's Palm do not look consistent with a Parlor Palm. The "rust" on the plant could be a coating that is consistent with some Dypsis palms. Don't try to remove it until you know what it is. Can you show a close-up?
It is still a bit young to make an ID.
The other plant may be Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana'.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Here a link for seeds and seed pods Trina. (sigh) if it works

http://theseedsite.co.uk

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

yep it worked...cool I saved it to my favorites

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, are you still there? This is the best photo I could take with my camera. Can you see enough of it?

Thumbnail by venice62
Keaau, HI

Thanks Venice, the palm is fine, leave the coating alone.

It might be the Triangle Palm, Dypsis decaryi.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

If it is that kind of palm, what is the rust stuff?

Keaau, HI

The "rust" stuff is a scaly coating that the palm naturally produces. Depending on the species it could become densely fuzzy as the palm matures.

If it is the Triangle Palm, it is a three sided palm from Madagascar.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

cool...Dave I posted 4 better pics of that palm on the thread for it

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, I was trying to figure out where the 3 sides would be. It looks like at the base of the plant, it has 3 sides. Is that what you mean?

Keaau, HI

Thanks Trina, I had a look at it.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, just to double check, would the palm need less light?

Keaau, HI

Yes, the trunk would be triangular!
