I bought a plant labeled orange bell pepper. I have been growing the plant in a container since May and I have peppers that have just turned red, will they eventually be orange or did I get a plant that was mislabeled? Thank you.
Do orange bell peppers turn red before they turn orange?
You got a mis labeled plant.
They turn to the color they are supposed to be right away.
Bernie
I've had green bell peppers that I left on the vine. They then turned red, then yellow. This year I tried a chocolate pepper (purple). Left it on the vine, it went from green to purple, but didn't change anymore from there. Maybe it depends on the variety.
Thank ya'll. I had a feeling that I had bought a mislabeled plant. Next year I will start from seed.
Concur with Bernie. Orange bells may turn yellow and deepen to orange, but red is a final stage for the green to red peppers. The chocolate peppers also turn red but keep enoght green that the final result is reddish brown. Purple is always an immature color.
I like them all!
