oh wow...i'd love one of those!
VIII Annual Aroid Show and Sale at Fairchild
I knew that pixie teardrops was yours because of that Air Pot thing. I remember you represented them.
wow does anyone know where I can get some of these plants...I haven't seen anything like them at my local nursery
Many of the plants that were for sale at the Show are not available at regular, local nurseries. The plants I showed are not available anywhere yet! If there is a plant in particular you know you want, share what it/they is/are and I'll let you know if I can help you with it.

cool..I realy like the Philodendrons but I want some with more color...I have a very large green and white one and lots of babies..I thought I had a picture
I
and tiny ones are ok that way i get to watch them grow!
it was not a smart Idea to go to plant files and look up philodendrons!...a cork tree is a philodendron...now I wouldn't mind one of those
but here are a few I'd like to have if you can help me locate some
P.erubescens "Pink Princess"
P. williamsii
P.davaidsonii
P. giant radiatum
P. brandtianum
P. melanochrysom (SP?)
they don't have to be large just some cutting s if anyone has any, I will pay for it and the shipping if needed
Trina, you have D-mail
Actually, the tree they have listed is "phellodendron" and it is not a Philodendron at all. The only place where Philodendrons get to be truly tree-sized is on my imaginary planet of Aroidia (see link below)!

OMG!!!! we are so much alike...except in my plant world I can grow climbing roses up my four poster bed with no thorns, and the ceilings are all covered with vining plants like jasmines, honeysuckles, passionflowers, and I have those tall cactuses with the arms standing as centries by the front door and the entry way is all tropicals with a giant aquarium!...I have serious plant issues!
It was a great show and it was good to see a lot of old friends as well as meeting new ones. I was one of the judges for the show plants and I put my two cents in on some of the new hybrids. Larianns work is amazing and wonderful it will me very interesting to see what she has in the next few seasons.
Here is a photo just out side of the doors to the show. With Enid from Natural Selections Me Julius Boos and Tom Croat.
ok really dumb question here...if I type bromelaids into plant files it gives me a whole list...if I type in agaves the same happens...but when I type in Aroids I get "No Matches Found" So what all falls under the category of aroids?
seray your black magic went out today hope you get it soon
Aroid is the common name for plants in the Araceae family this would include Philodendrons peace lilies and just about anything called an elephant ear. It is a odd family of plants and their are many odd species that look very different but share the unique flower formation which includes a spadix and a spath.
sorry it took so long thanks for being understanding
Thank you for that info! now I can start looking at something more than an ordinary Philodendron maybe!
Good photo, Brian. You all look the same as I remember. Julius looks so odd without his beard, but he looks good!
Nice lauterbachiana. I had a hard time growing small plants of that.
(the other photos are pretty too!)
Here's a link if you want to see what P. goeldii looks like when it gets really large:

Yes I saw that picture! When I was there at the gardens I heard the lady I purchased mine from talk about that one at the entrance but I missed it :(
AWWW!
And look, he's holding her hand, instead of reaching down to swipe a plant! LOL.
Just kidding! That's a really nice photo of the two of you, I'd frame that one.
Thank you, she is my first priority!
he probably swiped the plant before hand or afterwards! LOL
Not from Fairchild Gardens! They have like 100 payed staff and over 500 volunteers! That is passion. I bought my Aroids and that suppressed the urge!
oh I'm doing a happy dance and I just received one of my trades
Happy Dance
Happy Dance
Shake your booty
sorry I just got an EE...Colocasia gigantea...woohoo new plant yes yes yes
and a friend just droped me off some meadow sage....doing the dance
sorry I get a little excited!
Me too! I am excited for you! I just picked up a C. Gigantea from the show that Brian Williams brought down from Kentucky. I can wait to see how big it gets! I would shake my booty too but I lack the equipment! ha ha ha
I know! I need more land! I wonder if my wife would let me turn our swimming pool into a koi pond :)
Lol Dan! I traded one of my Black Magic pups for it...I know since I grow them in pots in the house It wont get to its full potential, at least not until I get the greenhouse finished...and I traded one for a colocasia Antiquorum illustrus...which was just delivered too...yeah!!!!!
