I learn new things everyday.....and its starting to make my head hurt...beigining to think I'm a seed farmer and not retired

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Some of those look like they belong to the same group as the stink horn fungus....cool, never seen them on a tree before.

Glad to have ya hang with us...we natter about nearly everything and a lot of nothing sometimes, but music, gardening, rocks and fun are are main thing....post with us anytime...we are EOP around here GRIN

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sorry JJs....force of habit....grin

The genus Hibiscus has over 200 species in it Trina...there are very few Genuses that contain a single plant.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, don't you know, we love photos!!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

No, that is another goodie from Australia. I believe it is one of the Ficus species....but, like me, gravity is not its' friend

(Zone 5b)

be still my heart! allwild, dave, rocks with fossils?! I'm having palpitations over here!
Uncle Albert, shenanigans at a pub?? I'm in. Is it wrong if you do it in the name of science?
That fungus looks like a beer with a perfect pour..is it Lambic? lol I worked in a german restaurant, drawing the beer was an art.
allwild, welcome.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

yeah but Yucca's are well kinda boring and they all look the same....I don't even know what category you classify those as? They grow slow, and stay green all winter, with looks funny whe there's 2 foot of snow on the ground and you look across the yard and there's all these green spiky things poking out......They also look neat in ice storms when they freeze over solid....they look incased in crystal....then they thaw out and still all green and spikey. they get ahuge flower spike that looks really bad when all the blooms fade out and huge seed pods so they look even funnier....but at least I always know where the end of my driveway is when I go out there

Quite alright moon. 9 out of 10 times I would be wrong anyway. :)

Are the luna hibiscus seeds different than the hibiscus that get really tall?

Trina I have some yucca too. They are a pain if you have to dig them up and they have been there very long.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

What should I eat for dinner....chupacabra....or baby back ribs

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Trina you have the chupacabra send me the ribs!!!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

at least 20 years JJ in different spots all over the pasture

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

but the baby back ribs wont sit still he keeps squirmin and gigglin and trying to get away

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

The Luna is a hybrid, and grows to 3-4 ft and 2-3 ft wide. The flowers are fantastic. I had a Burgundy Luna that had blooms about 6-10 inches across and looked like crushed silk. It is from I think the Hibiscus moscheutos species...same as the Disco Belle and Southern Belle series.

Got company coming in...catch you all later. Have a great evening all be safe...Moon

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

oh well looks like I'm having buritos....the chupacabra and the nephew are safe for one more night

Another interesting tropical vine is Ayahuasca, Banisteriopsis caapi.

It is a member of the Acerola Cherry Family (Malpighiaceae) which is a medicinal that is the subject of much research because of it's curative properties.
