Wonderful shots on the last thread everyone! If you would like to look back at them here is the link: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1034618/
Here is another shot of the male juvenile with the injured beak. He is doing great, enjoying all the plants and keeping all other hummers away.
2009 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Vol. 9
Ha Nanny! I had one yesterday too. Didn't get any pix. Saw another early morning one today. Might try and sneak outside and get some pix.
The other day I was sitting outside and it was quite warm, so I put the hose on mist. I had one bird in the garden and he wanted nothing to do with the mister. boo. I was hoping for a cute picture!
Nice one nanny!
Pelle and Nanny, your little ones are so cute. Pelle, glad your little one is doing well. I have a couple with similar problems but it doesn't seem to bother them.
I think my little guy in the first pic left this morning. There are more around but it was chilly today.
Had one yesterday, no pix though. I could have gotten a really good one had I taken my camera outside. duh.
I still have three in my yard. :)
Oh my....chilly sounds nice to me! Can't wait! I was sitting outside this morning and it was so hot and muggy...ugh!
It is also very overcast and damp. Haven't seen any hummingbirds today.
I saw none at the feeders yesterday...but this morning on our walk I saw one feeding in the brush.
I have one today. It was out before the sun was all the way up even. It was only 48 degrees!!
I have one at the plants now.
Seen mine today, it didn't leave yet!
Still Rubypalooza here:) I had 8 sit down at one feeder. That was a record for me. Many in the trees and on the plants, too.
I was going through some pics and noticed the male on the left has an injury to his wing.
I also had the strangest thing happen tonight. It was almost dark and there were only a couple of straglers that hadn't gone to roost. A male (the one in the pic was from another day, but I guess it could have been him) stayed on the feeder for a long time, then he fell off the perch and luckily landed on the grass. He just sat there for a few minutes, kind of seemed dazed. When my husband opened the door he flew off. I was afraid he was going to die. Let me know if you know what might have caused this, or if you have seen this happen before.

Nice pics Missy, Glad your still seeing a lot of them.
Oh I had one on the plantaginea hosta which is still blooming just a few minutes ago! I tried to get the camera going...but not fast enough.
Oh Nanny, they love those. That's my favorite hosta flower too. Mine are done though. I've been gone all day but on hummer watch now!~
Nice one Mrs. Ed!
Beautiful pics! It seems like the majority of mature males have moved on. They have to make it to the coast of Texas for the Hummerfest next weekend:) I'm gonna see if they can move the date back a week next year, so they can stay longer at my house.
Nice ones Mrs. Ed...love the one with the flash!
Rose and Mrs Ed, beautiful photos!!
But just as pretty to see Mrs Ed!! Nice job.
Awww, thanks. Well, fun to chase her around the garden. We are getting some much-needed rain today so I
haven't been outside to look for them yet. I sure hope one of these decides to stay next year. They are probably the ones from Calgary or something and don't want to be this far south.
