How do you get a start from a willow tree? Just wanted to know if it was possible or not
how to get a start from a willow tree
Most species of Salix root very easy from cuttings.
how did I know you were sneaking around out there! So I can take cuttings Little rooting hormone and just keep it moist but not soggy right?
That sounds right. Willows like water. I have gotten Salix babylonica to root just by sticking cuttings in soil and letting them sit out in the rain.
suprisingly we haven't had any rain in two weeks....I'm sorry I haven't gotten to your pics yet.....I finally caught the flu that my kids have been dragging through the house for 2 months now...besides There is a vine a neighbor has on a fence, smells wonderful, but I want to know what it is, and if I can start it with cuttings too...planning next years garden for the back and we want something that will climb the garage
Dave if you know anything about coleus can you go to the coleus forum and give me an opinion on what 2 of the three coleus are...I posted them 2 days ago and no one seems to be answering them
Need to see the vine for ID, with flowers and fruit / seeds.
I think its a clematis of some, tons of white flowers...I will take a picture of it tomorrow
I'm not good with what are termed cultivars for Coleus. I have Coleus that changes right on the same plant. There are many many different colors and patterns.
true....I like them, like most people, just for the interesting foliage....I got some cuttings from someone in the mail today...I got one called Trailing Linda, very interesting
cut thin branches only new growth and place them in a milkbottle of water they will produce roots in a few days when bottle is full of roots plant out ....i have done this load of times and always works hope this helps dxcomposer united kingdom....
cool thanks! always wanted one and the guy on the next block said I could take some cuttings...so away we go....yeah
Trina, I have lots of luck rooting Salix from cuttings I take in February/March when winter is almost over. I put them in a vase of water along with forsythia cuttings. The salix will soon start to leaf out and grow roots in the vase and the forsythia will bloom. When spring arrives the salix will have lots of roots and you can plant them outside. That way they will have the whole summer to get established.
hhhmmm...cool never thought of that...Thanks For your help everyone....just trying to change the backyard from 6 foot tall weeds and mud to something I can enjoy!
Check out "Sweet Autumn" for a possible match to the neighbor's clematis that has "tons of white flowers." Prolific grower with lots of flowers usually from August until frost.
