Glad to hear it's getting better, Bill!

Victor, that is good to know....is that prescription stuff or over the counter?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

RX.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Bummer.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

wha: "i like war wounds". Snort. Vitamin E Dude! Why scar the bod? Actually just wanted to share that you have saved my dear friend Chef Pam. She borrowed a pressure cooker for her canning cuz got a new stove that wouldn't work her ole enamel pot. I sent her a DANGER! DANGER! based on your experience and she is now looking to her borrower for hands on help. Thanks whanut but although you're a hero, Still Use Vitamin E!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

dnut it is hard to see the skin on my stomach anyway - think allison's bear :)

i am still lubbing up with the neosporin

i did make some more pickles the other morning - and waited a good long while for the steam to escape - i have to use a screwdrived to break the pressure seal with my pressure cooker - it just does not open easy to begin with - my arm was stretched as far as i could when i opened it :)

Thomaston, CT

Glad your garden is still producing, Louise---I put a pepper, carrots, & beets into the veggie soup I made this morning---there's nothing else growing out there, so I had to buy stuff at the store---boo! I hate to do that this time of year! Bill---my DH had a Synvisc injection---I think that comes from chickens, but maybe roosters, too. Louise----was your brother in a small plane crash? How is he now?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thx Robin - i think the synvics is different, although i am going to check.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Synvisc is made from chickens, Bill. That's why I thought that's what you would be getting. So far so good with me. Yesterday was the first time I ran on the treadmill in many months. No knee pain so far.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

glad it worked for you - hoping the rooster injections don't get me up at dawn everyday

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe you can get a hen injection in the other knee. Then you can twirl in circles.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

and have fresh eggs for breakie.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

who will clean the eggs?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Dishwasher.

Thomaston, CT

LOL---you folks are what I need after listening to DH cough for days & days!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I spoke too soon - yesterday I got stabbing pains again in my knee. Ugh.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

ARGH Victor :(

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Knees are traitors! Those eggplants look nice with the aster. We had carrots today from the garden---11 of us at the table, but it didn't make a dent in the carrot rows!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Victor - sorry to hear about the knee! Rooster time?

Jo Anne - that's a lovely group of plantings.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks. We'll see what happens.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks next year we will have a regular garden with rows of vedgs.
Not a huge variety mostly tomatoes and herbs and some squash.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Nice, JoAnne! That's what we all say....LOL...".just a few tomatoes" here turned into a few more rows for a few more crops.....and on and on!!! LOL

Thomaston, CT

Anyone other than Pixie have a frost yet?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Missed me so far but its acomin this week :(

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yup.

Thomaston, CT

None here yet----looks like we'll make it into Oct.---a few years ago, we made it to Halloween. Garden needs to be cleared out, but I've been too busy.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

garden here is still going - and i finally relented, it is officially leek picking season - mil wanted to pick them in July when they were the size of scallions - i got a bad rap from my wife and mil for forbidding it any early leek picking - let her grab one last weekend that had to be close to 3" around - huge - later this week it will be potato leek soup time :)

wish they would learn just to do as i say and not complain, would make everything so much easier :)

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

geesh wha you're pretty possessive about your leeks!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

you do not pick an apple until it is ripe - nor a tomato - why should leeks be any different? She grabbed another today too!! Of course we are having dinner with them tomorrow and potato leek soup is the appetizer, with chile rellano's the main course - not sure if they go together although both are good, can't wait :)

I love a beet but how can they beat your leek?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I think all greens can be et at all stages wha. Your dinner sounds great. I would eat a pot of leek soup for the entree and maybe more for dessert. I luv leek soup!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

dnut your seem to be taking the ladies side here - i only planted 100 leeks and now have just 98 left - before you know it they will be gone :)

hey sherrie how are you? not a beet fan here, only the beet tops for me.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

O well then, that is totally understandable wha. With only 100 leeks then naturally you would banish Mrs Wha and Mrs Wha-in-law from the leek patch (snort)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hi Sherrie!

Thomaston, CT

Are all your beets dug, Sherrie? Bill---share the leeks, or the garden gnomes will turn on you!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

ok this has got out of hand, it is open season on the leeks now - mil wanted to start picking in July - they were the size of scallions - heard more grief in august - they need 120 days min. and i grow them from seed - end of September is when they are ready - after all the care i give them no one picks them early period!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SNORT

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

step away from the leeks!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Take a leek, Bill.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)
