i hate the skins too nancy - actually every team in the nfc east -

Coffee Break # 18 - Cooling down
Niner fan
Jets are 1 for 1! 100%
They were pansies in the 70's. Steelers kicked their butts. Jack Lambert would eat through their helmets if allowed.
Really looking forward to this:

I put it on my calendar. There was an article in Sundays paper: the 10 national parks everyone should see, we've seen 9 out of the 10 so far.
Cool. I have only seen Acadia, Mammoth Cave, a bit (one day) of Smoky Mt, Yellowstone and Yosemite.
Which 10 Debilu? The national geo ones?Acadia, Glacier, Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Great Smoky Mountains, Olympic, Rocky Mountain, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Zion. I've been to 7 - still need to see Acadia, Grand Teton and Zion.
National geo???
We've been to a lot, but the ones listed were Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Denali, Glacier, Acadia, Zion, Everglades, Great Smoky Mtn, and Shenandoah. We haven't seen Glacier.
Others we've seen are Rocky Mtn, Grand Teton, Arches, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, Joshua Tree, and Badlands. I forgot Mamoth Cave.

Everglades-checked, Denali and Shenandoah-not checked. Sorry Victor - National Geographic Society.
You went to Denali, Deb? Any other Alaska ones?
Oh my gosh, how lame! I've only been to 1...I need to get travelling!!!!
oops, make that 2. Should have looked at the map first

We stayed at a little cabin in Denali for a week, did an excursion train to get there, saw Mt McKinley. One of our best vacations. That's all we did in Alaska except eat some great seafood in Anchorage. Denali is huge with limited auto access, very cool. Saw moose, caribou, elk, wolves, grisley, and dall sheep.
Red and black fox too. I'd love to go back.
Sounds wonderful sigh.
Sounds great! Can't wait to go.
I've been to Acadia.
i'm impressed deb! i've only been too 6 or 7 and only arcadia with mrs. wha.
i was going to ask if your trips included backpacking and/or tents?
We camped in a tent at Canyonlands or Arches, I forget which. Right next to the Colorado River. I dreamed I got up during the night to go to the restroom and fell in the river. DH was holding branches out to pull me in. I kept floating down the river. Needless to say I waited til daylight.
On the drive to Yellowstone we camped along the way, it was so cold we barely slept. The next day we went to Yellowstone and set up our tent around 2:00 and took a nap. I woke up before DH, and started out for the rest room. I was watching my feet not to trip over a rock on the trail, then I looked up. There was a buffalo 6 feet in front of me. I looked to my right, another buffalo. I looked to my left another buffalo. I went back to the camp site.
Then I watched a dad and 2 kids go to the rest room, and figured if they could do it, so could I. I snuck down and managed to get there and back. Then I saw a soda machine on the side of a building. DH woke up and we were going out for a drive through the park. We stopped to get a soda. A buffalo was on the left side of the building. I tiptoed down and stood along the right side of the soda machine, put my money in and reached around to puch the button, staying as far away from the buffalo as possible. Then my soda clunked down, I reached around, grabbed it, turned to run back to the car. Right into the path of the buffalo! He must have moved around the building when my soda clunked down. DH was in the car laughing as I ran and jumped in.
No goring, but the pamphlet we got at the gate said hundreds of people get gored by buffalo, so I was scared! The three of them stayed pretty close to the camp site.
Wow! Now those are some amazing shots of bats, Gabagoo!
Football....yawn!
That national parks film looks good. I've been to Yosemite about 4 times. One of my favorite places. Been to Great Basin Nat'l Park in NV, but didn't have time to see much more that the gift shop. Some really sweeping views there. Oh, and the Grand Canyon. I think that's about it. Wow, I really haven't seen that many, now that I think about it! Been to a lot of state parks and state recreation areas. Oh, yeah, been to the Everglades, too. Interesting, but not my cup of tea.
Neat stories about your adventures in Yellowstone, Deb!
Karen
Cousin Nut didn't you like the whirring airboats in the everglades! I luved those. Bummer though, they wouldn't let me drive :( Incredible birds and bugs too.
Love the national parks but I'm not into camping. I like comfy beds and hot showers.
I believe me and my tru luv just might be too crinkly now for camping. The last time we camped DH said a bad word when he couldn't get up from the air mattress in the morning and said another one when I giggled. Of course I waited til he exited the tent before I tried to get up (tee hee).
nice story about the buffalo's debbie - glad they didn't charge!
i did a couple out west trips for 3 weeks a piece hitting several parks each time. backpacked most of them except for places like arches. And slept on the side of the road in between. i would do it again in a second. those were trips before mrs. wha who would prefer a softer bed - or air mattress at a minunum.
I'm with you, Victor, on comfy beds and hot showers. They have those at some of the parks. Most, actually, have a big hotel. I don't like sleeping in tents. Well, if I have a nice comfy air mattress I'm fine. But on the ground, forget it!
Karen
I've never been camping in my life and am not about to start. lol
LOL dnut! You'd prolly need a crane to get me out of the tent--but I would love camping even so. It's been a long time!
National park sounds nice but I'm with Victor too!
...besides I SO don't want a wake up call from an overgrown hungry bear in the middle of the night while I'm lying down on the ground like an entree!
Oh, me too, WC2! I don't like the idea of a bear visiting me while I sleep and dragging me out of the tent. Seen/read/heard too many horror stories of that type!
Karen
Yes, really. Also like a nice sit-down breakfast prepared bu someone ELSE! Who wants to do work on vacation?!
you guys do not know what your missing - black bears are not going to bother you, i've met several in my time in the woods, one i could have patted on the head - you are not "on the ground" - either an air mattress (if car camping) or a thermarest - as for breakfast, in the woods you are up at the crack of dawn because you end up going to bed earlier, heat some water have some joe or tea, and maybe some hot oatmeal or a fiber bar and enjoy the woods and quite. no real work required.
candidly i'm surprised, gardeners who play in the dirt would not enjoy a tent in the woods to get back to nature:)
Playing in nature all day is fine. Then I go back to my comfy bed, hot meal, hot shower and running water.
Whimp! Hee hee he
Yeah, running water! That means toilet! Instead of putting stuff in baggies and whatnot, or going to some nasty shed with spiders the size of grapefruits, I could be civilized!!
thx for jumping on the band wagon celeste! :)
To be honest.....I last 3 days in the woods without a shower. Then im coming out, finding a shower or a lake and bathing!!!!! lol
Oh and on that 3rd day....i'm as ugly as any Maine bear and I smell like one, so fear ME!!

there is always a lake or stream to clean up in using the biodegradable all purpose soap.
Yes I know, jumped in Harrington lake at the end of May and popped back up an ice cube. ^_^ Invigorating doesn't describe it! lol
