Great! Another disease to worry about!
I thought this might be of interest to some of you. I thought this was a really cool house. http://damncoolpics.blogspot.com/2009/07/total-privacy-at-clingstone-mansion-in.html

Coffee Break # 18 - Cooling down
Don't sleepwalk.
A little too scary for me Cuz Nut. Could be whipped away in a minute. Although north of the Carolinas, I don't think the weather of the 'north shore' cares where it hits. Very Cool house though.
Yup, wouldn't want to stay there during a hurricane. Maybe not even during a Nor' easter.
Karen
ROFLOL irisMA. Good one ^_^ To explain my paranoiahood, lost a dear friend sailing off the north shore. I'm not very keen on keeners cuz of that.
Oh, sorry to hear that, Cousin Nut. That's sad.
Karen
O Cousin Nut please, please don't be sad. That was a very long time ago. These things happen. He was doing what he loved: sailing. I hope I die doing what I love. I will regret sharing this if you are sad :(
Where do you have your garden in a house like that?
Brilliant point flowerjen! Patty would be planting here 7000 bulbs with the oysters ^_^
Looks a bit lonley
Phoebes I was thinkin not enough big windows. Open up the north side and Methusala would leave me for sure. Seriously I agree with you. I wouldn't be happy without being to interact with other peoples.
Okay, Cousin Nut, I won't be sad. I'm sure he's very happy now, wherever he is. If I die doing what I love it will be in my daylily gardens.
Garden? What garden? I don't know if there's room! I would not want to live there, either, just spend a weekend there now and then. Would be fun. I love boating, and I love the water. But I love gardening even more.
Karen
Bet there's no internet!
This a job for growlights!
D'nut, yes, still to early for planting.
I'm working on a problemm area between my driveway and my neighbors. It's a pitched area only 4-5 feet wide with poor soil. Whole situation is complicated by neighbors planting of ivy (mostly it is their property). My idea is a mass planting of blackeyed susan (which I have a never ending supply of). They will handle the slope, poor soil and stand up to the ivy. To give it some early season interest, underplanting with late daffs (Quail) and species tulips. (Maybe I should have checked with my neighbor before buying a few hundred bulbs?)
Any feedback?
Sounds like a lovely garden plot design. I would tell them of your plans before you do it.
I share an old double attached garage with my neighbor. Shortly after I moved in I came home to roofers redoing the roof on both sides. As I walked up my neighbor said to me "The roof was leaking (on his side), I got these guys cheap, they are doing your side too, you only have to pay half".
How presumptious! There was so many things wrong with this scenario I just walked away shaking my head. The first thing wrong was not telling me BEFORE he decided to do the work. Roofing is a long way from planting but courtesy is courtesy. I think they might appreciate a heads up.
Don't worry. I would ask. Plus they are wonderful neighbors.
Good idea. It helps to have good neighbors. I'm praying for mine to move.
Dave, would be BES really stand up to the ivy? I have the English Ivy here, and not much will stand up to it. I'm trying to eradicate it.
Here's a cute video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UTdhK0lwuw

I know, isn't that the funniest thing?! Never saw a cat do that before. My friend Karen says she had a cat that would lay in the birdbath to cool off. Now that's funny!

I posted this link over in the WIldlife Forum. I wanted to make sure you folks saw these pics.
A friend of mine sent me the link:

There are some beautiful shots.
There's also a shot of the photographer and his set-up.
Amazing!

WOW! Thanks for posting that link!
WOW!!!
Those are some cool bat pics!
Very cool! Wish I could attract bats to my bat house. Gotta move it. I would not dangle my equipment over the pond like that, despite the counterweights, etc. Wind or an animal could easily knock it over.
This great day keeps getting better. JETS 16, pats 9.
Boooooooooooooooo!
not a pats fan so the jets winning is no big deal. they should have lost last week to buffalo too.
the cowboys losing just now to the gents, that hurt. romo gave it away, and away, and away.
Cowboys have always been one of my least favorite teams. Packers lost yesterday which hurts. They have been my team for 66 years.
Yes - horrible turnovers and coaching decisions too for the Cowboys.
I hate the Cowboys!
i did not see any bad coaching decisions, just poor execution.
iris/jen i have never heard anyone say that about the cowboys :) I've been a fan since the late 60's starting with bullet bob hayes.
Clock management, from what my Cowboy neighbor told me this morning.
Dave47 sounds like a great plan for your slope! IrisMA I'm a cheesehead too ^_^
he must have been upset they scored so fast at the end - didn't really see what they could have done different - they were calling running plays which should have theoretically taken time off the clock. two play 35 yards and a score, how are you supposed to know that would happen.
24 pionts on 4 turnovers cost them the game. i hate the giants as much as the yankees!
I remember Bob Hayes, speedy but always disliked the team. 'America's Team' Not around here & that was before the Patriot's settled down. Pack beat them in the 'ice bowl' of course. 'Frozen tundra' in Green Bay is silly, there are heat strips under the field.
wha you really have a thing about NY teams, don't you? I don't mind the Giants but I like the Pats better.
Thank you dnut! Go Pats! ^_^
Back in the 70's, when the Jets were horrible, I liked the Steelers and loved when they beat the Cowboys. Steelers were a blue collar team, not like the pansy Cowboys.
As a Redskin fan, I was trying to figure out a way for BOTH the Giants & Cowboys to lose against each other!
LOL!
Nancy
