Is this mushroom poisonous? my Golden Retriever tried to eat

Wichita, KS(Zone 6a)

Hey all, I posted this in the plant identification forum but just in case, I wanted to post it here because my friends in the beginning gardening forum are so knowledgeable and quick to reply. I let Mac out this morning and noticed him with something white in his mouth so I went right out to see. He had one of the three that grew overnight. I got it away from him and tossed all 3 over the fence but now I'm worried. I can't find any pictures that look like this to see if it's poisonous.

Could be an Amanita, Death Cap Mushroom. Best to get rid of it.

yikes that sounds ominous! better get rid of any others you see Babee!

The deadly poisonous Aminitas tend to have a visible cup, technically called a 'volva' around their base, and a pronounced membrane (or 'anunulus') attaching the edges of the cap to the stalk. The worst ones also don't have scaly caps, like this mushroom. Looks like possibly a Lepiota to me, but that's just a guess.. Some of them are poisonous, but by that's usually just to the extent of gastrointestinal upset, which can suck, but is seldom long-lasting. Some Lepiota's are also choice gourmet mushrooms. Funny how nature works.
