Hi there,
My pittosporum plants have been growing fine for two years. I haven't committed to a set watering schedule so I think I moved away from what worked. My plants are turning yellow in some parts and losing the bottom to middle part of its leaves. The trunk is becoming pretty bare.
I gave my plants some miracle grow fertilizer recently but they didn't fare much better.
I am guessing it is because I water too much (1-2 days 8 minutes each time). The plants line the perimeter of my fence line in the Bay Area.
I wanted to get some watering tips or ways I can improve the soil (if necessary).
I can upload a picture later.
Thanks,
C
Pittosporum Eugenoides
Unless your soil has a lot better drainage than mine does here, that probably is too much water but the easiest way to check for sure is right before the next time you would normally water, stick your finger down a few inches into the soil and see how wet it feels. If it's still feeling pretty moist, then you need to cut back on your watering. I also wouldn't recommend fertilizing plants that are under stress, that won't help and can sometimes make matters worse.
