Does anyone know if I can cut of the top growth of blackberries and pot them to grow another plant? I know that if the top growth gets down to the ground they will root. Thanks!
Blackberry plants - Can I make new plants?
Yes, of course you can take cuttings and root them.
That is what the commercial growers do.
Good luck!
I would recommend natures way with a helping hand. You can bury a section of the vine (a little top weight helps),
and it will set roots at that spot. Do this on multiple vines and you can start a blackberry forest somewhere. Patience and experimentation as to the time they take to root is all you need.
Separate these sections from the mother plant carefully, and you'll have buckets to share in years to come!
Thanks for your help. I do want to get another patch growing and figured might as well try it the cheap way! :)
I think a better word for it would be the "smart way," sherlyn.
