Morning Glories 2009 #13
Becky I love this one http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7023760 is it as dark as it appears in the photo?
Your Henka from Dany is a l@@ker!!
Hi Debra, Yes, I bought Ukigumo in 2005 straight from Japan in the original unopened pack. My entries are in plant files. It has lime green variegated leaf, light blue blizzard starting almost solid and progressing to more white with some going almost white with a pearly look.
If you cross (or it gets cross pollinated) Ukigumo with a darker flower with green leaf the result is likely a darker blizzard(unless darker flower has hidden lightening factors) with green leaf that will likely throw from the seeds both the light and dark green leaf and different shades from light to dark blue in the flowers. Now what is it now? I guess a Ukigumo cross?
The Ukigumo is true from seeds when selfed unlike the Sazanami which has turned out solid and blizzard blue and solid and blizzard lavender. I have been working on Sazanami trying to see if I can get true seeds and so far my last test showed too many variations and too many solid ones to be offered as what is supposed to be a blizzard variety so I kept those. A lot of times I keep seeds because they need work.
I can understand that easy enough, thanks for the information.. I am learning alot here this past year.
Debra
Gardenpom, Those are awesome. I always love your pictures. Glad to see you again.
Karen
GP I ♥♥♥ the white one with the blue margin!! If you want to trade just say the word!!
I like that one too! ;D
That's one of the blues EmmaGrace sent me...not sure which one.
i love them but that last one is so pretty
Helena - Very pretty! These blooms: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7028022 remind me of Pink Porcelain. Do you know what they are? Pretty pink blooms!
I woke up to a garden party! LOL! Bees were out there very early pollinating the MG blooms! A lot of blooms today on the 8 containers of vines. :-)
I haven't had a chance to look for my grow-out list, so not sure what these are and who I got them from. I know the block one is from Dany as well as the Henka vine. :-)
Here is a new one. Large blooms and just gorgeous! I was stunned when I saw it!

Here is another bloom on that same vine. Beautiful!!! I like the color and the blizzard/splash pattern! :-)
I hope these produce lots of seeds!! I am just concerned that I am going to get some open pollination crosses because of the bees. I put them in the area where the Cowpen Daises bushes were and now the bees are out there fighting over their terrority in the mornings! So ...
So put on your bee suit and show em who's boss! ^_^
Pretty blooms everyone.
Jon
Gorgeous blooms Helena and Becky! Karen
Jon - LOL! I had my little paint brush dusting away this morning, too! :-)
How's your garden doing? I hope everything is recovering nicely. Is the other storm heading your way or did if fizzle out? We thought we might have a hurricane over this Labor Day weekend, but it luckily died out. I live right in the path of most Atlantic Ocean hurricanes. I have gotten used to living dangerously on the east coast of Florida. It's always exciting this time of year! LOL! I just need to have a second home to stay at when there are mandatory evacuations. :-) I also live about 60 miles from Kennedy Space Center, so if a terrorist attack were attempted, I'm in close proximity of a fallout from that as well. =:-O
Here is one of many blooms on the Henka NOID vine today. The nice thing about the Henka strain of I. nil is that the blooms are all different! So it's a joy to look at each and everyone of the blooms! :-)
Becky this one is gorgeous!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7028208I love the dusky color
Helena this one http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7028033 is real pretty, so silky looking!!

Becky love the Henka!! The color is real nice, I am partial to the darker ones for some reason...
Thanks, Ronnie!
Those two different vines showing blizzard patterns are a nice surprise! I love any colof of blizzard blooms! First time I have had these colors! :-) Kinda rounding out my collection! LOL!
I really like the darker Henka too! I had a lighter Henka vine a couple years ago when I first started growing MGs, but the blooms on this current Henka stand out much more!
Now if I can get lots of seeds from all of these vines to share/trade, that would be the icing on top of the cake! :-)
Thanks everyone!
Becky that is from your Pink Porcelain. I like it a lot.
Your blooms are beautiful as usual Becky!
Your mauve blizzard reminds me of Mauve Splash that I had blooming early summer from Emma. I did send you seeds of it. Do you think maybe you sowed seeds of it?
Here's a pic from mine earlier this year.

Those are beautiful Henkas all different but all the same kind. I think this is a new concept for the folks who want conformity in the blooms or who think once a flower opens that all the seeds will look exactly like the parent. Sure,I enjoy the vines that come true from seeds but This is one variety that is "allowed" to be different and beautiful.I Love it!!! Freedom!!
This one is a lavender speckled kikyo.
Hazards, hmm, let me think.
North Korea
earthquakes
typhoons
volcanic eruptions
floods
landslides
Yup that's about all, pretty boring around here! Had to strip a large part of the garden so looks more like autumn
now. Not sure about the current storm, looks like it may clip us. http://www.jma.go.jp/en/typh/0912.html
Jon
Helena, Karen and Jackie - Thanks! Y'all sure have some nice looking blooms, too!
Helena - Your Mauve Splash is very pretty. It does look similiar to mine, doesn't it? Maybe it is. I won't know until I find that darn list ... Grrrr ...
Karen - Lovely lavender speckled kikyo hybrid! I noticed that you seem to like the Kikyo cultivars. I was wondering why? Is it because of the shape of the blooms?
Jackie - I can totally understand why you love Fuji no Sora so much! When I grew one 2 years ago, I about dropped my teeth! It was sooooo pretty!!!
Your big ole' kitty is a cutie! My cat has sure put on some weight! Though I don't think she weighs as much as your cat! LOL! More like 16 lbs. lol
Becky, I love all the Mt Fuji's. Ronnie sending me the lite Pink Fuji
to go with my Fuji no sora. I love Fuji no Beni, the red you
shared. It's striking
We are animal poor at our house. lol They eat better than we do..

Hi Becky,
True I do love the kikyos. The shape of the flower is one reason I like them and also the ones I like the best stay compact around 3 foot by 5 foot and they don`t take up too much space.
We have 6 dogs and 4 cats and they eat like kings and queens while we heat up left overs...and they want that too lol!!!!
Pretty purple Helena!
Karen
