Let's continue with the late summer blooms before we have to start posting leaves! lol
I'm posting this shot of Cherry Bells as I fear a few more nights in the 40's will do it in!
Garden Photo's 09 - # 41
Ge that sedum is really nice
love the smell of the fragrant hosta Pirl gave me Pixie... can't believe you have a lupine now
Love the hibiscus and roses and honeysuckle Meredith.
JoAnn the shots of the garden look lovely even with the clouds, specially like the shot near the deck and stone walkway.
Pixie looks like you still are having lots of color in your garden. Glad to see the hollyhock, they weren't so pretty here this year. I like the royal standard hosta with the white fragrant blooms too.
Things are pretty battered down after the hot humid last few weeks and the heavy rain from yesterday but a couple things trying to bloom. Round two of the little digi 'Goldcrest' I really like this little guy so far. Hope it returns next year.
Thanks everyone.
The sedum is matrona, leaves were supposed to have more purple in them, guess its not long enough in full sun.
The darkest sedum is xenox and that isnt as black as it was in the picture online.
your black jack is great
I have to get a pic, but the clem I planted this spring is blooming. It's Sweet Autumn, and I love the small flowers!
Good grief.
Do you go looking for them
?
I just kill them when I find them.
I figure for every 1 slug I kill I elimenate a potential 10,000.
Yep, I have been checking the garden for them every rainy and cloudy am all season. We had a big explosion in population this year and I have found them in some very odd places. Never had much of a problem with them until this year. My thoughts exactly JoAnn, the more I smush the fewer there will be next year. I was astounded by how many I found this am after only one day of rain.
ICK!
They have made lace out of my ligularia leaves.
Allison, I never wanted to grow cannas till I saw the hummers with yours. Plus I have a neighbor up the street who has some very large cannas that look spectacular, and that makes me want them, too.
Celeste, love your last bloom on 'Dallas Star' and the lavender lupine.
Pat, I adore that digitalis 'Goldcrest'. So luscious looking! I also love the 'Black Jack' sedum. Those slugs are so icky!!!!
Karen
wow thank you for a new thread
I didn't plant sunflowers this year, & I miss them---pretty color! Loved the roses, especially Tahitian Sunset---not too much blooming here, but some dahlias haven't opened yet.
nice pix everyone
Ngam.. love the color of that digi!!!... my hotlips started blooming a week ago... I have a cup of beer buried in the ground... even with all the rain there must have been 20 slugs in there when I dumped it yesterday... I imagine this is going to get worse with the cooler weather
Karen the cannas have been hit & miss with me... not sure if it's when or where I planted them.. but I have had quite a few rot on me.. every one from the co-op this year didn't grow.. and they looked great when they arrived.. maybe the cool spring had something to do with it.. not sure.. the two I have currently growing are a few years old.. and just get nicer every year... I had a third but that one rotted in the garage over the winter.. even though that one is real nice.. I am not sure if I would buy more if these two don't return in the future
Perennial foxglove grandiflora
As usual...Great photos everyone! I love the late summer garden with all it's rich color, fragrances, and sounds--sigh! Celeste, I can't believe how you captured the depth of color in your pansy shot! Speaking of pansies, I think summer missed us this year, I can just imagine how cool it is in Maine.
beautiful purples.
I have 1 woods purple aster blooming on the plant. I'll wait until the whole thing is in bloom to pix it
Wew what alot of beauties to catch up on! Looking great all!
