Both plants growing next to each other have the younger leaves at the centre of the crown very narrow and curly.
No flowers produced this year. I haven't checked the roots or checked closely for bugs, but has anyone seen this before?
Kniphofia caulescens with issues
I'm not familiar with this plant, but the symptoms usually indicate either a virus or herbicide damage.
Thanks Ceejaytown. I've been able to have a closer look now and thought you might be interested. Both plants are covered in slime trails and the flower stalks that have now risen are seriously munched by some mollusc or other. Slugs I guess so I can't help thinking the curling of the young leaves around the emerging flowers was some kind of effect from them; maybe from their munching but perhaps something like the adhesive effect of the slime as the leaves emerged. Their is no directional influence as you might expect from a herbicide and it doesn'tlook to me like a virus
