what kind of bugs?

Abilene, TX

sorry no pic, the bugs are too small. They live in the soil, about the size of fruit flies,a grayish color and i think they might fly. Does any one know what these may be and what i could do about them? I only see them in my begonia's.

Maybe fungus gnats? If it was them you'd definitely know they could fly though so maybe it's something else. Usually when you find them it's because things are a little too wet, so if you think that could be what you have I'd check on your watering and make sure you're not giving the plants a little more than they need. You can use yellow sticky traps to catch the adults, and use Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) to take care of the larvae in the soil. Bt is in mosquito dunks and a product called Gnatrol.
