Gerabell. We will need a little more info. How old is your plant? Is it in a pot or the ground? What sun exposure does it get? How often do you water it? How much rainfall? What kind of fertilizer and how much/often do you use it?

Please be extremely careful with any blossoms that fall from the plant. My nephew was in the hospital for 2 days, completely unintelligible, after ingesting some of this plant. It is highly toxic. I suspect pets and wildlife will suffer the same fate if they ingest any part of this plant.

That said, here is a website that has information about growing the plant. http://daviswiki.org/Angel%27s_Trumpet

Yeah a really nasty neighbor of mine has a crap load of these plants. She has them situated so that the blooms fall on edge of her yard near the road where dozens of dogs are walked daily. She complains about them using her yard as a toilet and I'm sure she wouldn't mind if a dog were to get really sick and/or dying from it.

Yep, Brugmansias are toxic if ingested. They contain tropane alkeloids.

But, according to a study by UC-Davis, the following plants are equally as toxic...Apple seeds, Loquat seeds, Hellebores, Gloriosa Lilies, Pampas grass, Carolina Jessamine, Night blooming Jessamine, Daphne, Foxglove, Lily-of-the-valley, heather, Fritillaria....the list goes on.

The key to safety is to be aware of what is toxic and handle accordingly. Gardeners need to show responsible care in keeping garden detritus from these plants cleaned up and properly disposed of. Below is a link to the study and a complete list of toxic plants ranging from #1 highest level, to #5 lowest level.

I believe it needed water and fertilizer. It blooms beautiful now.

You left out azaleas and the most toxic of all that is native to our area, jasmine.

Hey Jim. Take a look at the sticky post on Plant ID Forum. The one from Melody. A bunch of us got together and got tons of links on toxic and invasive plants and Melody put them into one post. You will be surprised at some of the things that are considered toxic.

I only looked at the top link, everything in my yard is poison and all Jo's potted plants. I knew about some of them but some surprized me. I knew that most fruit seed was poison because they contain cynid. Amazing.

I thought you'd find that interesting.
