There seems to be quite a few homeowners planting naturalistic meadows with wildflowers. There are water restrictions in most towns so it makes sense to plant meadows. Wish I had gotten some decent shots but they are hard to capture on film.
Here are a few things blooming in my own yard. This is Echinacea 'Meringue'

If that's a butterfly bush...it's HUGE!
Been away a bit and takes forever to catch up. Everyone's pics are greatI
Pensecola, you doggy is adorable.
Great pics, Allison. I love the coleus shots. I just love coleus.
That Lavender Blue Baby DL is really pretty, Celeste. That blotchiness on the bloom is usually caused by thrips getting in the buds. That seems to happen a lot with certain reds and purples, and sometimes with pinks, too.
Allison, are jump drives the same as an external hard drive? The reason I ask this is because on another thread in the daylilies forum we were talking about how someone had lost all their photos on their computer when the hard drive crashed, and I mentioned that I wanted to get some external hard drives to store my files on. Then I think more than one person mentioned that they had and external hard drive that crashed, too, so I guess it's not fool-proof storage. CD's are not fool-proof, either, as they can become compromised, unreadable, etc. I don't know what the solution is for storage of digital files other than probably keeping them stored several different ways, which then becomes very time consuming to do.
Bill, your BES and clem shot is great!
Pat, I like your bug shot. I find them on my DL blooms all the time. They're just sitting there, and are not causing any damage to the plants. I don't know what they are. Do you? Are they katydids? The ones I see on my flowers are very small, and the katydids I've seen are large.
Dyane, nice pics from MV. That bush you were asking if it was a BB is actually a Chaste Tree http://grumpygardener.southernliving.com/grumpy_gardener/2009/06/chaste-tree-is-pure-delight-.html . I saw one last year and took pics of it to ID it. I've wanted one ever since. I just love it!
Karen
Karen,
Thank you so much for the link. I kept seeing them in bloom in different parts of the island but this one was particularly stunning. I kept driving by it trying to ID it, I finally stopped for some pictures the day I was leaving. It's a beautiful sight in bloom!
Dyane
Nice pics of the vineyard. You just missed the big waves from "Bill" and the pres and family arriving for vacation. Have to get over there again one of these days, glad to hear not much has changed and hope it never does. Nice id on the chase tree Karen, it sure is pretty.
That bug is a katydid. They start out as small nymphs then molt or whatever 5 or 6 times and end up quite large.
Here is another visitor I thought was not gong to make it this year but the Painted Lady has arrived at last.
I love those penstemons---hope mine winter well---Dyane, thanks for the tour of the Vineyard---I've never been, would love to go. Jo Ann, those white plants sound nice---I grew Only the Lonely nicotiana this year, and am loving the white blooms, especially at dusk--also the fragrance.
Nice hummers! Good for Randy, is he hooked now?
I doubt it...LOL... but he does love the sunflowers
RC re: the Brunerra its planted under one of the noid hostas you sent last year.
You're welcome, Dyane. That Chaste Tree is very pretty. I almost bought one last year, but it was almost $50, so I had to pass.
Nice hummers, Allison!
Pat, pretty Painted Lady.
Karen
nice shots robin - what kind of camera?
very nice shots Robin!!.. love that last one!
love your shade gardens Ge
Thanks---the new camera is a Cannon Power Shot---like my old one---BUT 5 years newer---the change in technology is great----much faster, & clearer pictures.
your new pix did look wonderful
robin your pics do look very clear!
i also noticed an improvement in the powershots - my wife used and old one at my daughters wedding and most pic's everyone had red eye - should have given her my better camera even though it would have been much larger and required it's own bag to lug it around.
