Hello,
Can someone give me any advice on planting peonies from a mail-order site? Anyone have any recommendations on a particular site? I just purchased my first home and am in love with peonies! I cant wait to line my entire fence with them.
Also-can anyone tell me how part-shade clematis vines do? Has anyone had any experience with them? From my experience all clematis need full sun but I have found a variety that claims to do well in the shade. Any thoughts?
Thank you everyone!
Ashley
Clematis/Peony Help
Click on the Products and sources link at the top of this page. It will give you a lot of info about mail order sites and commentary on their reliability and plant handling. You can find a quality site for the plants you are interested in.
Many Clematis will grow in part shade. What particular clems were you looking at growing? If you ask in the clem forum you will get a lot of suggestions. Here is a link that will help

Good on you for including a link, bookreader, Ashley is not a subscriber.
I am a clem convert this year and have really learned a lot about clems. I do have some in partial shade and many of the brighter colored clems prefer a little shade.
I have a couple that get less than full sun also. They bloom fine with some bright shade in the afternoon. They do like their roots in cool slightly moist soil.
I've found that many gardeners don't realize how much plants enjoy cool roots. Mulch and or compost really is so valuable.
Ashley, here is a link on peony care.

Thank you everyone for your advice. The spot I want my clems in is sunny for about 6-7 hours per day in the summer time, and from what I gather from your information and the link this should be alright. Moonhowl thank you for the link on peonies also, I have learned a lot!
Thanks again!!
Congratulations on your new home Ashley. Hope this helps to make your garden a happy place.
Thank you moonhowl and everyone else! :)
