ok.. anyone that saw the last pic I posted.. if you look in the center of the photo, against the wall, kinda in a 'corner' you can see one of my Brugs... if you look just to the left, you see 4 tall stalks - this is what were sent to me in my newbie pack labeled 'Painted Daisy'. however,, that dont look like any painted daisy Ive ever seen.. more like a sunflower.. any idea what it might be?

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

hmm what are they

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

lol... well, i dunno, was hoping one of you girls could tell me

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Don't look like sunflower either. ?????????????????????????????????

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

I cant see it well can you take it closer?

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

then what in the heck could it be??? the stalks on it are like 2 inches in diameter now.. the things just keep growing up and up...

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

I'll see if i got any that are closer

Hollyhocks?

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

They look like hollyhocks...

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

no it looks different up close someone knows....was it Al was it you that donated painted Daisey's?

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

panted daisy doesnt look anything like that... they have leaves that look like asparagus fern.. or dill... these things were definitely mislabeled...lol... but would like to know what it is.. and when might it stop growing and start blooming...lol

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Definitley not HH close up. Mystery blooms on the way?

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

newp.. not a sign of a bloom anywhere... go figure

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see then . . .

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

looks like it.. but darn, i wish I had some clue as yo when they would stop growing upwards...lol

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

They're big already and no blooms, I think they are gonna be biguns - lol... Wonder what in the heck they are?

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

thast why I was thinking it was some sort of sunflower.. is there any other flower that grows in single stalks like that and really tall?

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

The leaves on the stalk kept me from saying sunflower maybe it a mammoth sunflower like you wanted!!!

Hornell, NY(Zone 5a)

Compared to the leaves on my previous post, it looks like it may well be a sunflower of some type, but I can't really tell for sure. And yes, the mammoth ones get really tall.

Al

If Jack shows up you'll know. LOL

Arejay don't forget to close the iris thread. I'm out for the eve. Have a great night and thanks for all the help on the iris auction.

Hornell, NY(Zone 5a)

Maybe you have a rogue person planting stuff in your garden. I had that happen once, somebody planted zuchinni right in the middle of my prized petunia patch. What a dumbass joke!

Al

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Well I don't believe it is HH or sunflower. Leaves just aren't right for either one of those.
How about a giant WEED?????? LOL Just teasing cue.

Middleton, TN(Zone 7a)

LOL Al, that would be a funny prank to pull on someone

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

unfortunately, I planted these myself.. they came in my newbie pack labeled as Painted Daisy.. clearly, thats not what they are. Someone on the plant ID forum suggested perhaps it was some type of Amaranth?

Montrose, AR(Zone 8a)

You have some beautiful flowers Cue....Very nice...
