why is my azalea blooming again??

(Zone 5b)

Hi I'm in zone 5, this is a pjm rhodie, I've never seen any rhodies or azaleas bloom a 2nd time. Does this mean no blooms in the spring?

I found a bit of info on the PJM Rhodie/azalea. According to this, it has a second sparser bloom in the fall also. Check out page 150 & 151.

wow, that's info I missed when I bought them! thanks Moon! What a great surprise, I take back what I said to it when I saw the blooms hahaha
They ARE hardy, I bought them and they literally rolled around the neighborhood in their pots for a month or more before I could plant them. Every week or so I'd get them out of the neighbors' yards.

Sounds like my kinda plant. Shame they don't grow well here.

I've got one that is evergreen and blooms twice a year, don't know what it is but will study this link and get more. Sweeet

the one shrub is still blooming, the flowers are smaller than the big full blooms in the spring, but it's still a bonus round! I like the burgundy leaves in fall also.

since azaleas are short bloomers, a second round of blooms is always a delight to see.
