Lily, It sure does look foreboding but I love it!
Gp, Nice shots! Love the juvy!
Daily Pics Vol. 238
Wow, lily, that would be a great cover for a CD or DVD.
Good shots of the Woodpecker, GP. What type of palm is it?
Great shots, Methodical.
BTW, could everyone try to avoid any reference to Fall or Winter for Mrs Ed' sake (and for our own as we're the ones who'll be having to deal with her) LOL
Right at this moment we're having 100% humidity. That is all I'll say. :-)
I'm not really sure about the Palm. it reminds me of an Areca Palm. That Palm actually was planted in an arrangement we got 16 years ago for my fathers' funeral. I brought it with me when I moved and planted it by my patio...now it towers above the house.
Chuckle, chuckle at Margaret's comment about Autumn...
GP, I meant to say I love those pictures of the birds with the peanuts in their beaks.
Pelle, I thought of reserving the pix (that I posted above) for Halloween to come, but then it will be Fall...then all the migrating birds (for Mrs_ed's sake), lol with you Margaret.
Nanny, the T. Timouse(titmice?) keeps my company all season long here in the South.
Oh, someone please remind me to put up Orioles' feeder for the winter since we're thinking ahead of migrating season. :-)
The Reheaded WP is still king at the bird feeder in my backyard at present:

Nice!!
Thanks all......nice Red-Headed, I'd love to see one! I just saw the female Red-Bellied feeding ANOTHER young one. It's been a banner year for Woodpeckers.
While we're on the subject of Woodpeckers. I wasn't quick enough to catch a scene of two male Cardinals swooping down on the Redheaded WP while it was foraging on the lawn yesterday as I was driving by. It's amazing to watch those birds interacting with one another!
Har. Funny Margaret.
I saw Mums at Walmart yesterday and about burst into tears! waaaaa.
Hi Knip, your young 'un Jackdaw looks awefully lonesome, poor baby! The coconut feeder is interesting an object!
Chresanthemums at Wally World already Marna? I've noticed more falling leaves on the lawn here too, not to meantion Fall blooming flowers are making their debute in the garden down here. Sniff sniff....
Hah, Lily, you mentioned Fall. Remember, we must never mention Fall because if we mention Fall, Mrs Ed will get upset, so avoid mentioning the word Fall or Winter at all costs. I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.
Knip, that is a gorgeous little jackdaw. We reared an Australian Raven from a tiny wee handful many years ago. He looks so similar to your Jackdaw. Such beautiful birds.
Here's a Pink and Grey Galah that was with a small group of buddies that landed in the eucalypt at the nest site yesterday.
Beautiful Margaret.
You know what's worse than the mention of Fall/Autumn? When you see a bunch of pictures of snow and winter. That's REALLY bad.
Indeed the Galah is beautiful! Marna, we need to team up and make a trip to visit Margaret during our winter, since it will be summer over yonder. Just think we can see all those birds Margaret has shared with us here. (Dreams are sweet!) :0)
Even her winter is our summer though!
Could someone take a look at that picture I posted of the bathing birdies and let me know if I'm even close to being correct on their ID
Thanks
Yeah, Lily, I just learned about the Goldfinch winter and summer plumage last winter but I'm fairly certain they're not goldfinches because I don't usually have those this time of year. Thanks though
CLB, i'm not real sure, but it kinda looks like a sulphur-bellied flycatcher. I can't really see a lot of detail in picture, and I'm still learning to ID birds. Did it look like this...?

Oh dear...look what I started...so sorry Mrs. Ed....LOL!!!
My Dendranthema(hardy garden mum)Bolero is starting to bloom. I let it just gro this year and it about 6ft by 6ft!! Next year I will have to conatin it a bit more I think.
Now that the grackles and starlings for the most part have left the crows are coming back, much to my pleasure!!
Hmmm, crows they're a noisy bunch. Aren't they? LOL. Duc, the cormorant is one I haven't spotted around here. Geeze, look at that hook on its beak!
Like this handsome hawk, it's easy on the eyes, but I'd cry if it steals one of my song birds. This is too close for comfort here! I'll post a close up pix next.
Beautiful Red-shouldered Hawk Lily!
Duc, Love your wading birds!
Nanny, Sweet Downy Woodpeckers!!
Margaret, Gorgeous Galah!!
Knip, Such a handsome Jackdaw!
Thanks for trying Teresa but I don't have sulphur-bellied flycatchers in my area.
Could someone take a look at that picture I posted of the bathing birdies and let me know if I'm even close to being correct on their ID
Ooops, missed this one somehow!
Correct with Indigo Bunting on the right.
Bird on the left, can't really make out. Possibly a female Orchard Oriole, but that's very far from definite. I think this one is safest left as 'One that got away'.
Resin
There's something about the heron family that is just so cool. Love the green herons, and that one from Australia, the Nankeen Night heron.
Great shots duc! Love the beautiful Green Heron and the action shots of the Great Blue Heron!
