I have a very large peace lilly that is very dusty and dull looking. I tried cleaning the leaves with just plain water and a soft cloth. When the leaves dried it lookrd like the dust was dried on too. What does everyone use to clean their leaves? I am trying to sell this plant and it dosent look so good. I also bought a leaf shineing spray from Walmart. It was a horrible mess. Thanks midshadow.
How do you clean your leaves?
Have you tried washing the leaves several times with plain water and a soft cloth? There's no reason that shouldn't do the job. My front door was dirty. I washed it with water and a cloth. It streaked. The second time it streaked less. The third time was a charm.
I will try again. Would it hurt to put a tiny bit of dishwashing liquid in the water? Should I rinse with clear water? Thanks
If they're really dusty, I don't see any harm in using a drop or two of detergent. As you mention, I'd surely rinse all that off with clear water.
The leaf shining stuff- why don't you try spraying a little bit on a soft cloth and then rub the cloth over one leaf and see what happens?
If you are trying to sell the plant, I wouldn't be surprised if ENDUST on a soft cloth would help.
Best of luck!
I always add a little milk to the water and use cotton balls, works like a charm. Give it a try, you'll be amazed
