North Central Texas Fall Roundup October 4th.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I am hoping it won't rain while we are there, you never know, but we will do our best and have fun either way.
Josephine.

Cleburne, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, I won't melt in the rain !! The llama poop and coffee grounds might. ROFL. Just new to DG and RU and needed to know how it all works.

This might sound kind of dumb, but where will the group be located within the park?

I'm looking at the google aerial view of the park and it looks like after you make the turn north onto Randol Mill Park Rd, you pass tennis courts, then a bunch of baseball diamonds? Then what?

Are the pavilion areas named and if so, what's the name of the one we're meeting at? Are the pavilions also marked by road signs?

Do you feel like we're playing 20 questions?

Sorry, I'm a worrywort. ;)

See you Sunday!
Elizabeth

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

After you enter the park and pass the gate turn left on the first drive, go over a little bridge and the pavilion is just a little farther, you can,t miss it, there is only one pavilion with many picnic tables around it.
Pull up to the entrance, sign in, get your name tag, drop off your door prizes and pay your fee.
Bring your food to the table. We will help you bring your plants to your designated space.
I hope that helps.
See you Sunday,
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

The pavilion will be on the right. You can pull up on the side of the drive to load/unload, but then you'll need to move your car to the parking lot. The parking lot is just past the pavilion. Check in at the pavilion and pay your fee, drop off your food and door prize.

Each table will be labeled with your DG name. Plants you are giving to folks go UNDER the table. Extra plants you bring (not promised to anyone) go on TOP at YOUR spot. Trades you receive will be under your table. Make sure you label your plants and you may also want to put a To/From type label on them as well as the name of the plant.

(Elizabeth) DFW Area, TX

Oh, God bless you both!

Now I have a little better idea of what to expect! And a better idea of where to send the gal who's bringing tamales and beans - she lives up there near the park, so it was silly to have her drive all the way down here to deliver them and then I drive them all the way back up there. This way, she can deliver them later (and a lot hotter) than they would be if I bring them.

I'm going to be there at 11:00 to help with the food table, so I'm glad to know where I'm going. :)

And I like the info about how it works - on the table/under the table. I hadn't thought of putting my name on the plants - yes, indeedy, that could be helpful for someone who's trying to figure out to do with something. :)

Thank you, again!
Elizabeth

Elizabeth, putting your name on things also helps remember in future years when the plants produce/bloom.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Elizabeth...One other thing that may help you organize is to box your "not promised" extra plants together. Also if you see things under the table at your spot they will be what others have brought for you.
We usually try to eat within the first 30 min to hour since we don't have electricity to keep things hot. Then do our trading for things not promised in advance.
Don't stress, it will be a fun in the SUNday.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure this is kind of late to be telling, though after taking a look at the food thread i figured we could have some beef as well, so i am bringing:

1~ 5# Pot Roast
1~ Large Bowl of Butterfly Pasta Salad

See (((you guys))) after while!!!

Debnes

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Deb, thank you very much, I will add it to the list.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

See you tomorrow (Sunday at noon).

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello Everybody, please bring your umbrellas tomorrow just in case.
Josephine.

I have a cholla cactus and I think its one of the really tall varieties. I started it from a tiny broken pad that I picked up in a park (don't yell at me please). I have a couple pads that I trimmed off if anyone would like one. They are mean but very interesting and easy to grow. I will cut off a few more if anyone wants one to try. They would make a great potted plant.

I have one more friend coming also. So that makes me+3 total.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I don't think we will be able to make it after all, sorry everyone. Hope to see everyone at the next RU!

Kim

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry you can't make it Kim, but we understand.
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, you are a sweetie, and both you and the parents will be missed.

Hello Everybody, The rain is moving west to east, and right now the radar shows the west all clear, so it looks like we got lucky and we will have a clearing. Let us have fun.
Here is Frank's cell if you need to call us 817-706-9518
See you all there,
Josephine.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

We have decided to not go to the RU and I am sorry to everyone involved. I feel like I am letting everyone down but it is raining cat and dog here and I don't like the thought of driving five hours on a freeway to get there. If we lived in Arlington I would not think of missing this. I was so looking forward to meeting lots of new friends but that will have to wait until Spring. For those who I have made trades with, we will be going to the ETRU. If you are not going to ETRU but would like to come to our home we would love to have you. No one has ever came to our home and not left with a truck full of plants, we love to share. Again I am truly sorry.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I understand Ken, we will miss you. It is a long drive in the rain, we will see you in East Texas.
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Well Ken, we will miss you, but hopefully see you at the Jacksonville RU.

We just had the last brief rain pass through and all looks good to go.

Thanks, everyone who shared a plant, coffee grounds, eggs, seeds, etc. with me. They will enrich my home, yard, and patio. It was great to see all of you. I have been away for a while but I am definitely back. Frank, you did a great job as an emcee. Shirley

Thank you for all the generosity. I am so glad to have finally met all of you. With all the scary things they say in the news about the internet, today has added to my belief that there are still lots of good people in the world.( Thank you Lord for allowing me to meet some of them today. ) All of the plants that were so generously passed on to me today will have a good home. I hope I can get to know all of you better. Thanks again and god bless all of you.

Seems like we had almost as many new members today as we did our regulars! So glad to see everyone out this gloomy October day. It wasn't any better if the sun had been shining. Enjoyed meeting you all and visiting with you over a meal, swapping plants or simply saying hello. I hope you will all be back to the Arlington N Central TX RU in the Spring!!! Thanks for being there today!
