I recently moved into an apartment w/little Southern & Western exposures so I've been trying CFL sources. Does anyone know what causes some of my plants leaves to turn deep yellow almost fluorescent themselves when kept in close proximity to the lights? Is this an indication the plant is too close? The plants that are affected don't seem to be dying or losing leaves just changing to this unsightly bright yellow.
Yellow Leaves from Fluorescent Lighting
Are you sure it's the lights causing it and not a watering issue or some other cultural factor? I've never had trouble with fluorescent lights when I start seedlings, and some of them always get big enough that they're practically running into the lights and I've never seen any change in leaf color as a result so I would want to rule out other potential issues (watering is the first thing that comes to mind, but there are other possibilities as well). If you could post some pictures that might help figure out what's going on.
I will post some pix. I'm almost positive it isn't watering. Some of these plants I've had for quite some time. And very easy simple plants. Like a Marble Pothos, a Purple Passion Vine..even my Swiss Cheese plant. Wasn't using the lights for seedlings.
