Can sediums thrive in pots?

I have 2 large pots of red Autumn Glory sedum and they are doing great for 2 years now.
That's incouraging!!
Neighbors keep allowing there dogs to relieve themself and dig by mine. They are in the ground right now but the fencing keeps getting nocked over and I am always finding poop. I am getting extreemly annoyed by this and I dont want the plants to die. I think they are beautful!! I figure potting them will solve this issue.
