1st ANNUAL PNW ROUNDUP SUMMARY...

(Judi)Portland, OR

Me! I will go! I'm at PDX waiting for my flight to SF now. Count me in for England! I'll start saving my spare change.

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Lynn, remember that the dirt is a really fine place for our Saturday night campfire and other activities!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the rock reminder, Laurie. And there is a gift exchange, too, right? So don't forget your wrapped gift . . .

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

Have fun, Judi!

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Looking forward to hitting the road tomorrow ... having one of those "mama said there'd be days like this" Thursdays. Yesterday was wonderful & perfect, so how come today feels inexplicably really crappy despite the beautiful sunshine & fragrant gardens? Combination of an earache, having to go around 2 really bad accidents on Hwy 18 yesterday & today, feeling overwhelmed by the garage full of stuff the owners left me to deal with (they think they're coming back for it; I know they won't plus I need the garage NOW) ... got sucked into an exchange with one of the scarier personalities on DG ... 3 packages missing in the mail that must be tracked down .... and I dunno, maybe I'm not drinking enough water.

Whew ... OK, deep breath, stop with the moving-in chores ENOUGH ALREADY and start picking out plants for their journey north ...

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Holly, If I brought up the Purple Bus, not to many people would know the fun we had with it. I can still picture the trailer behind with all the fur pets. And Rach singing. But its still here waiting for the new paint LOL

No worry Laurie, I think I got it all. But the kitchen sink will not fit, the jeep is smaller than my wagon was. Have to do with the bathrm sink. LOL And I think my boots are to old to be flying anywhere, they leak.

Thanks for the update Lynn, I will not forget my Wellies. as Laurie told mr to pack.

Okay Gwen, I must of missed something, Who you moving in with????

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Summerkid, sounds like you need a couple of Mike's Lemonades . . . those always improve my outlook. Your exchange can wait. Make sure to mark the neighbors' stuff so it'll be easy to toss once you've waiting the requisite period.

In general, I'm sure that you're full of emotions and so they're looking for somewhere to land . . . and it'll take a few highs and lows before you land in the middle. Enjoy the highs and remember that the lows will pass. Breathe and pat yourself on the back. Make sure to put that last part on your "to do" list every day so you can cross it off.

Kathy

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Yep, diagnosis: I'm homesick. Goofy broad. How can you be homesick for a house, neighborhood, town & state that you absolutely hated? I have everything here -- planters, plants, neighbors, friends .... but I miss MY blue planters, I miss my tomatoes & sunflowers, I miss Tommy & Edna & Sharlene coming over to bug me ...

Well, I'm nothing if not inconsistent, so tomorrow should dawn bright & sunny!

Part of it is those accidents. Someone died at the foot of my mountain yesterday, and that makes me feel as fragile as we, in reality, are ...

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Yes, yes, and yes. I sure get that . . .

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I just now check with Map Q. I will be the totally lost puppy. I did not realize where you where, just out side of Seattle was my thought. O' my did not get the clue as to where you where till I saw Bonny Lake. But then again thats not that far, my comute to work is worse. LOL but I know for a fact I will get lost. see ya in afternoon, not sure of the time of arrival. will have a late start in AM do to working late tonight.
Can't wait to meet all.

Eugene, OR

Don't forget to let us know what's happening!! I really wish I could be there. Maybe next time.

Cliff Dweller, WA(Zone 8b)

Everyone sounds SOOOO EXCITED! I guess because my yards are so young I don't have anything to divide yet, but AGAIN... please come back and post lots of photos. Hopefully, next year I can attend. If you guys pick a date far enough in advance I can put in for the time off work, and make arrangements for someone else to rescue Carl from the airport....board my dog.. etc.

Not only does is sound like a BLAST...your itinerary sounds action (and food) packed! It would have been a fun way to meet all you folks!.

In my old garden club we actually met at the Gig Harbor garden tour one year. Ned Hudson from Dave's G. (from Alaska) even joined us. It was seriously fun. Several of us got motel rooms and stayed at the same place so we had meals together. The only big deal here that is somewhat centrally locally is the Seattle Garden show which is going to be run by a whole new organizer this year. I have done the Seattle garden tour too...which was very neat. I LOVE GARDEN TOURS!

Great photos in here and Judi... you are going to need THERAPY after chasing those little cherubs around. Beautiful family photo! I'm toast just after chasing my 2 yr old grandson around for a few hours. Yesterday was gorgeous and I had some time off. I took him to a golf course and let him go. He trotted for 50 minutes straight!!! I was so worn out keeping up with him...lol

HAVE FUN EVERYONE... PHOTOS PHOTOS! Also...does this mean what happens at the round-up STAYS at the round-up? Hope not!!...LOLOL

OOOHHH it's the BIG weekend. Have a T-riffic time!

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

Tills, I'm moving in with.....YOU! LOL

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

I am now on the lookout for purple Wellies to be converted into purple flying boots, though Tilly's boots would definitely have had waaaaay more character, and I'm sure they could fly in their earlier dancing days.

Lynn, that dirt expanse looks beautiful, nice and fluffy and ready to be planted in!

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

tills, you are not going to get lost!! You are the pilot, oh, pilots usually need navigators - hmmmm. Tills you are not going to get lost.

Gwen, I'm still laughing.

ENJOY, everyone, ENJOY!!!!!!!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh know, need to build on.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I might have to skip Lakewold. My back has been extra nasty this week, and I might not be up to doing that much walking. I'll see how it feels in the morning. But I still want to meet up with you at Pixy's place afterwards even if I have to miss Lakewold.

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

I'm glad I came back to check this one more time before leaving. I forgot my ibuprofen! I have nasty plantar fascitis and can barely walk unless I load up on the stuff.

Okay, I hope I have everything now. I'm off. Stopping in Sumner to stimulate the economy a bit and then on to Lynne's sometime between 3 and 5 (depending on how much economy stimulating I do).

See some of you in a bit.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I'm getting all excited for you. Have a wonderful time.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

This is a sad moment, but I have officially missed my window to drive 5 hours north. Took a nap, hoping to clear up that earache & sore throat, and a nippy-nap turned into she's-out-cold for 4 hours. Hope I didn't inconvenience anyone. Sure wanted to come.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Awwwwww! Dangit, I'm sorry to hear that. I was really looking forward to meeting you.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Sorry we'll miss you, but health is more important, for sure.

North Lakewood, WA(Zone 8b)

Sorry all, but I have to cancel this weekend. DH had an emergency on Wednesday evening. He ended up having a stent put in his heart. So I don't want to leave him home alone for a few days. Pony I will save your magnolia and get it to you on my next trip to Chehalis. I hope you all have a wonderful time, and I will look forward to living vicariously through your photos and descriptions. Party down!!!!!!

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Yikes! We'll miss you, too... but good heavens, yes, your DH's health is more important. I hope he recovers quickly.

(Judi)Portland, OR

Well the two youngest grandchildren are asleep and the older two are at sleep overs, so I have some quiet time. Tomorrow I will take the older ones to their last swim meet of the season. My son's mother-in-law is coming over to watch the younger ones so I don't have to drag them along to an all-day event. Thank goodness!

I so wish I could be there to meet all of you. Have a wonderful time!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh, Linda - what a week. We'll miss you, but you definitely should stay put with DH. Hope he's feeling back to normal soon!!

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Don't forget to stay up for me. I will be there around 7pm. Looking forward to all of your faces.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

See you all tomorrow morning at Pixy's!!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Linda, best wishes to DH for a speedy recovery.

Judi, enjoy the day.

Have a great day, everybody!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Happy Birthday, Lynn!!!!! What a party weekend!

Sooooo sorry to read about your husband's health scare. I'm glad you're staying close for awhile. Maybe we can make it next year.

I'm about to shove off to go get my partner-hubby from the airport. He travels a lot with his work, and I couldn't EVEN come up with a good game plan to get out of here to join these ladies. I find myself trying to THINK of ways I could have made this happen, but NEXT YEAR I hope. I'll have to figure out WHAT I might be able to grow to share back with everyone.

That's a head scratcher for me...lol

((((Healing Hugs))))))) to your hubby and you!! Caregivers carry a heavy burden too!

Felicia

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Sorry for the late notice, it looks like we can make it for the aft today after all. Hope I can catch up with everyone at Pixy's around 1:30 or so.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I just stopped by Pixy's and nobody was there... guess Lakewold took longer than anticipated, or everybody went to get foody bits. I'll try again in a while.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

TDH, sorry to hear about your DH. Hope he has a quick recovery.

Eugene, OR

Thistledown, ditto what everyone has said. Wishing your DH a speedy recovery.

Everyone must be partying by now...........sigh.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Kathy (Katie59) & I had to leave - we got back just a bit ago.
This was a packed day, but lots of fun.
Kudos to our hostesses & those that helped execute the planning. That's a lot of work! Very well done! (extensive applause with vocal audience approval).

Lynn's place is oh-so-comfy with loads of charm. The borders/beds she has built are in their juvenile stages, but you could "see" what she's creating - it's going to be quite interesting to watch the progress over the next 2 years.
For those who could not make it - you were missed! Hopefully, we'll be able to do this again next year & everyone will be able to gather together again.
Next item on the agenda: fall plant swap? Seed exchange? Green Elephant?
How many days until christmas? Is that a legal question to ask, since we are still in Summer?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Hey there! I just got home. I think Kate and I are still a little wired from the long day, the beautiful gardens and the good company.

Julie, Sharon, and Lynn and their DHs did an outstanding job with organizing and hosting a fun, fun party. We were sorry to leave, but, alas, home and pet-children were calling. I'll bet they're still eating, laughing, and sorting through plants in the dark.

I got some pictures - I know Mary is taking tons, so look for future posts. I'm sorry to miss Julie and Sharon's gardens tomorrow, but it's beautiful out their way, and I'm thinking a day trip down Buckley is in my future . . .

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi all!
We just got home as well, not a lot of traffic tonight. Wanted to add my thanks for a delightful afternoon and evening to Julie, Sharon, Lynn, and their DH's for all their hard work organizing such a fun, relaxing event. Wonderful food, beautiful surroundings and good company-doesn't get much better than that! My poor little introvert head is still reeling from all the fun. I hope to get a chance to chat more with everyone soon-meeting so many new people all at once leaves me a bit overwhelmed. My DH also very much enjoyed meeting everyone, and all the other DH's-and Steve, of course, as well.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

lynn's house, gardens, motorcycle, beer refrigerator, joe's man cave, motor cycle camper, patio, guest room .............. all stand tall as we enjoy all of their wonderful hospitality. beautiful gardens in a wonderful rural setting. wow.
