Summer, tell your BF that if he can come this far, he can hop the Horizon shuttle from PDX to SEA (it runs about every hour and tix are about $120) and you'll pick him up in Seattle instead, then spend the weekend up here and take him back to OR in your car, and then back to PDX for his regularly scheduled return flight.
And, yes, you have to see Heronswood at least once.
1st ANNUAL PNW ROUNDUP SUMMARY...
Good idea. Summer, what do you think?
There's no way. He's leaving on Thursday so we won't have much time together, and one of his faults is that he does not like meeting people. He's off for 2 weeks & didn't realize that I had committed to the roundup or he would have come out on Friday. I was hoping he'd come on Sunday & leave later but you know how communication goes sometimes ... especially when I was on the "You're dead to me once you leave town" end.
So now I'm probably screwing it all up by trying to do both ....
I can vouch for the roasty sauce. I made it last year w/o the jalapenos. Very good indeed.
A word to the wise. When driving in the South Prairie (Buckley) vicinity, be sure to keep within posted speed limits. They partrol here regularly.
Thanks for the heads up. Whidbey is the same way and I always warn people. No crime here so they live to ticket.
Nice to know, Thanks as my new car gets away from me sometimes. I don't feel I am going fast enough, but looking a speedometer " Its opps" to fast.
Hi there, I haven't been on here all summer and it is nice to see a few of you still talking away on here. It has been a busy summer and it sure does feel like a little fall in the air. I wish I could come and see everyone but I have to work. Heronswood will also be open again in October. Check the garden conservancy .org. I have tons of plants 30% off and more by October if any of you want to venture up here. I would like to see you any ways. I have had a few daves members in this summer and it is great . Have fun Heidi
Heidi, I'm new here but really interested in loading up on plants this winter. I guess I should DMail you for info on your nursery?
Summer, her nursery is Dragonfly in Kingston, WA. It is way more than a nursery, it is fun!!! She has a website: dragonflyfarmsnursery.com. She is super nice and very creative and knowledgeable.
I hope to get a group together to venture over there on Sunday afternoon.
I'm going to lead the pack LOL Love you Heidi/////
Summer, I we have some old treads on are trips to Dragon Fly. It is the best place on my side of the pond. So to speak, as I live 15 min. away but my schule and hers are not the same, as I work weekends. The only time I get to go there is on my Vac.
This was the first trip ( found it)

Enjoy
Off to bed
Lynn I will check with my Dad and see if he can make it one of the days. We have been up to our eyeballs the past two weekends, moved my brother two weekends ago and then my grandparents this past weekend. Have seen dad alot but have not had time to chat about anything other than moving!
Rarejem, Please add Gretchen Price to the Mt. Tahoma list.
Please add trip to Dragonfly Nursery and Hersonswood in Kingston to Sunday afternoon events - you pick the time. (Maybe noon or 1pm , they close at 4pm on Sunday) Thanks!!! Attendees, so far are: Tillysrat, Gwendalou, Lynn
4 days and counting down!!!!
Lynn....Done! Mom and I may head over to Heidi's with you depending on what energy we have left. 4 days......EEEEeeekkkkkk! We are heading to E-WA tonight to (hopefully) harvest peaches and tomatoes to share, plus farm grown melons for breakfast! Will share pics if we are successful to make you all drool in anticipation!
O' Boy, count down.
I am drooling at the thought of the E Wa goodies. Yummmmmmm
Wish I could go!!
I honestly have dibs on everyone's produce no matter what part of the state it comes from, and I will fight for my honor. Do not get between me & tomatoes. Please be advised that I am very fit, am certified to teach hatha yoga, was a college cheerleader, a Merit scholar, a top cross-country runner & a state spelling champion.
Guide your actions accordingly.
Not gonna mess with Summerkid!
Well, summerkid - I may be old and not in very good shape, but I'm not above treachery. I figure I can get at least one or two tomatoes before you flatten me . . . and it will have been worth it. :-)
Bwahahahahaha! Summer wins the "Best Post EVER" award! :D
wholly moly pls do not click on the image for an enlarged view because it is life size.
I can see this is going to be a very interesting weekend, indeed!
LOL! I have a feeling my hubby is never going to forgive me... ;)
Age and treachery win over youth and beauty almost every time. I hope you have your running sneakers, Summer. Start honing those spelling skills. The rest of us will sit back and sip a cool one while the entertainment begins. Too bad my dh will not be there. He would be highly amused, if it didn't go over his head.
Sh*#!*!t Summer, why didn't you just run across the country to Oregon with your belongings on your back?
Good words Pix, Mine would say 'watch out I look but do not touch cause my better half will kill me when I get home' and he loves to flirt with the young ladies LOL as he is 63 but looks Alot younger nor like 45. He has won many bets on his age. Hate it I have more grey hair than he does. But he will be staying home and taking care of the home front.
My Hunk LOL
Oh, don't you just love men?
Are you packed? Have your remembered your toothbrush, sunhat and clean undies? No? Did you remember all of your plants, tools for potting, garden notebooks, cameras and snacks, and rock? Yes?
Good correct priorities.
Have a great time. Thinking of you.
Summerkid-Careful you may bite off more than you can chew!! LOL! DH and I can't wait to meet everyone! This will be so much fun!
Laurie1- Thanks for simplifying the list. I wish you could just hop on a flying machine and be here!
Where is that purple flying bus terminal when you need it anyway?
Laurie, I wish you could be here, would love to meet you!!!
Don't forget to bring your mucks or other garden shoes. We just put in a new patio and driveway, and unfortunately, the cement truck totally destroyed the back yard. The contractor didn't come back until last Friday to do his "clean up" (what a joke), so we are desperately trying to grade the back yard. It was an absolute mess. At least we won't have the huge trenches the truck made, but the grass is now nonexistent. Oh well, what's a garden party without a little dirt?
I'll bet there is nothing a bunch of gardeners like more that a blank slate with lots of dirt!
Have a great time everyone! Wish I could be there!
Portland, you took the words out of my mouth! It'll be mentally landscaped before we leave!
Tills, you're right, he really does not look 63! What's his secret?
His secret is living with Tills - I bet she keeps him on his toes.
Then I'm moving in as well!
Gwen!!!! I just laughed out loud!
I quite like the dirt look - and I do bet that it will have the most magnificent plans by the end of the weekend - well plotted Lynn, very good thinking. Definately need to get that pfbus going. Perhaps we could convert Tils boots from dancing to flying.
Well, I am definitely planning a trip over there in the next year or two. Maybe we'll just have a RU for two! :) Or maybe I can convince some others to join me. Anyone ready to start planning/saving now?
