Which flowering houseplants would you recommend?

I just got a few african violets and streptocarpus for my East and West windowsills.

I still have some more room, and some space for hanging baskets, and I'm considering Hoyas, but I'm reading that they are a bit difficult to care for and the blooms often fall off.

What other indoor flowering plants would you recommend for a beginner gardener?
