Plant from my mom's funeral

Syracuse, NY

My Solanum tree, I got it for Mother's Day and it was doing fine outside, because it said full Sun, I put it outside, but it just started dying! So, this lady told me it probably was not dead, to cut it down to the twig, and it would be green inside and it is. But, is it going to come back to life and the branches and flowers grow back? Please let me know at sherseub@hotmail.com and I would definitely appreciate it! I also, have another plant that is one of the ones that come in a funeral flower and it is dying, the leaves not the stem, Can I trim the leaves off even if they have a little bit of life left, not completely hard , but are very yellow brown?

Firstly sorry for your loss. Often when something says full sun it may be too much sun.If it were my plant I would put it into a dappled shade until it recovers, cut the dead leaves off and water it with some seaweed tonic as directed. As a general rule morning sun and afternoon shade is perhaps a better idea than full sun. Sometimes plants have been grown in greenhouses or even spent time indoors and when placed in full sun may burn.
Good luck ...if you do lose the plant, why not go and buy another beautiful plant to grow and love in your mum's memory.

I've found that trimming off half-dead leaves helps spur new growth.
