DAILY PICS VOL. 235

Marlton, NJ

I haven't had a lot either but lately they have been ignoring the nyjer for the sunflower seed feeders.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Me too. They are usually gone in the June and July, then come back for the sunflowers and such in August and September. Then they are really noisy!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Pretty Goldfinch photos Nanny. I just have a couple here now too, but they're not half as colorful as your beauties.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Congratulation on your retirement and so glad you decide to write the book..Margaret
Thanks Duc, sometime I get bored of getting pictures, from the same bird on the same feeders. But glad to hear, your enjoying them. Great shot on the two Scrub Jay.
I got something different, at home tonight. Waiting for an ID, if the picture is good enough. If it is what I think it is, it will be a new one for me.
Tigerlily, I love that downy on the mullein shot
Nanny the goldfinches have been quite busy here as well. They are cleaning my Birch tree from bugs, and so are some Warblers.
2 Downy woodpeckers, a female and a juvie male.

I planted lots of sunflowers so I would be able to watch the finch on them. However the storms with 60 mph winds on tues day took several out and left quite a few leaning for now. I am having a terrible summer with my plants!

Can you see them!

These little goldfinches, were very noisy the other evening. They were ruffling there wings and tail feathers and chasing the males. I took a little video of them, to get the racket they were doing, but the wind was so strong, it made it very distracting, to be able to hear them properly. It was interesting to watch though.

On the same night. Notice the female, how fluffy she is.

Now that I think of it, could have been a juvie calling for some food. :))

Congrats burn!

It was an awful day here for pictures, but finally the birds are moving! I had a new one today too.

MacGillivray's Warbler.

I suspect that this is a Western Wood Pewee. The only other one that would fit this area is the Willow Flycatcher but according to Sibley it has a flatter head--Kind of like adelbertcat's earlier pic. I would love corroboration as it would be a new one.

I'm amazed and delighted with the great pics on this site--good going all!

Front shot--a long one so poor quality...

Yep, Western Wood Pewee. Willow Fly is a smaller, daintier bird and has brighter white wingbars and a more obvious pale lower mandible.
