DAILY PICS VOL. 235

Rockminer gave me the address of a family of White-headed Woodpeckers. I was able to get one hasty pic before they flew away.(new bird)

While returning home I spotted some Acorn Woodpeckers.

This WesternTanager was in the same group of trees.

Back at home the hot weather (106) is keeping the birds in the shade most of the day.
It took two hours for this Steller's Jay to decide to check out a new feeder I put up.

After the sun went down this juvenile Spotted Towhee decided to come out of the berry bushes.

Great start adel! Congrats on the new bird and I love that first shot of the Acorn Woodpecker!

Things are pretty quiet here as far as birds. Not much at all going on. I saw my first flock of geese heading south go over this morning while I was out looking for a a ripe tomato(there were none).

This poor thing seems to have been left behind....

Haven't seen the Pileated this week...but have had this juvie Red-bellied Woodpecker regular!

I rarely see my juvie woodpeckers anymore just the adults.

This Western Grebe had to show off his fish before he ate it.

This is one of my many Anna's Hummingbirds that is here year round.

Duc, you do have a knack for taking pictures of black birds, and other birds for that matter.;) I find the black birds hard to photograph.

The goldfinch population is growing in my yard.

Well, Pelle, thus far the 'big' birds that frequent my cage-feeder are Cardinals. I've noticed the Crows will venture close, but they saw me from the window and flew off. Where as these 'brave' Cardinals may have near-sighted, they 'sorta' stare at me but hung on and get some seeds from the base of the feeder before they flew off. Usually, they will run other smaller birds away temporarily when they came to feed.
I've not seen other bigger birds around, such as Blue Jayes, Mockingbirds, Townhees ect.

My T. T. are a tad bit shy, it will turn its back to the window, as if 'Out of sight, out of mind' kinda thing. lol.

Okay thanks Lily. It was the Jays,Grackles and Starlings I was trying to discourage.

I've had a White-breasted Nuthatch here the last few days It's the first I've seen in a year. Normally they are very friendly birds and in the past I've been able to get very close to them. This particular one is the total opposite. I'm sitting 60 feet away from him and if I move at all (even further away) he freaks out and leaves. Funny how their all so different. I'll keep trying to get a pic of him.

Good crow shot, duc. It's not easy photographing a black coloured bird that also has dark eyes. Nice shot of the bird in flight, too.

Nice shots everyone......I got a good look at the Swallow-tailed Kite when I was driving down my street after work today....sure hope he's around tomorrow when I have my camera!

This Black-headed Grosbeak is not very happy with the hot weather.

This bird was down at my lower driveway in the heavy shade. This is the best I can get the pic to come out. Anybody able to ID it? It appeared to be chasing flying bugs near the ground.

Western Wood Pewee, or possibly one of the Empidonax flycatchers. Hard to judge size on this pic though.
