Pirl- Happy Birthday! Hope it is a wonderful day for you!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Zuzu, for the greetings and for the photo of 'Sweet Arlene'. How compliant of her to bloom for me! It must be all the love you heap upon your beautiful roses!

Mattsmom - thank you for the greetings. It will be a wonderful day, I'm sure.

Zuzu, do you have this rose - 'Ballerina'? I just saw it in a garden last night and I love it!

Happy Birthday, Arlene! Hope you have plenty of time to kick back and enjoy a day as special as you! Eat a piece of cake for me! Or chocolate....

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Lynn. I just received a box of Godiva so you can be sure I'll take your advice.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Yes, Pirl. I do have Ballerina and you should have it too. It's one of the hybrid musk roses and they are amazingly untemperamental. It will even grow and bloom profusely in the shade.

Might as well come over here, and say Happy Birthday too. You've got a thread on irises, also:)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Thanks, Zuzu. It was love at first sight for me.

Polly - how did you know I love Japanese irises?! Thanks for the greeting. I'll head over to irises now.

Birthday Pirls all over the place!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Yesterday I was thinking of the real PIRL, my dearly loved and now departed neighbor, Pauline Isabelle Reid Loeffler. For my birthday one year she made a carrot jello mold in one of those four ounce serving sizes and put a candle (unlit) in it. Then she told me to share it with the family! I did.

If you're out there deadheading and digging daylilies, I'm gonna cyber-smack you ! Do something fun...like alphabetizing your spices or cleaning the vent screen over the stove !

Hope you have a wonderful day and that someone sends you a good tasting cake of some sort...one big enough to accomodate the plethora of candles required to represent this momentous occasion.

Happy Birthday to you my incredible friend, mentor and advisor !
You bee's the best !

WHY WHY WHY!

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are almost dead?

Why do banks charge a fee on ‘insufficient funds’ when they already know there is not enough money?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars; but have to check when you say the paint is still wet?

Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an ‘S’ in the word ‘lisp’?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, ‘It’s all right?’ Well, it isn’t all right, so why don’t we say, ‘That really hurt, why don’t you watch where you’re going?’

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that’s falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

And my FAVORITE......

The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends—if they’re okay, then it’s you.

~~~Now send this on to your friends and make them smile, too!~~~ I hope!!
We're a mismatched set that does get along quite well. Thanks, Evey!
Just one more question to add to Jo Ann's August 5th list of questions:
Why do they bother to put a Nutrition Facts paper in with boxes of Godiva?
Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)
Because Candy is a FOOD GROUP !
(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)
Then my diet is perfectly balanced.
