Is Preen compatible with Anise Hyssop?

Sterling Heights, MI

Hi
I'm not really a beginner gardener, but this is the first time I've had this plant. The plastic marker in the pot says Anise Hyssop, but the description of the plant on the marker reads Agastache rugosa 'Blue Fortune'. I planted 5 of these yesterday and plan on getting 5 more tomorrow. I want to put Preen down and went to the Preen website but this plant wasn't recognized on their list. I have all the weeds around them cleaned out and would like to use Preen as soon as possible, but don't want to end up killing them without being sure first.
Thanks

Is your Preen the Preen Weed Preventer? All that one does is prevent seeds from sprouting, so it doesn't affect plants that are already there. But if it's the Preen Weed & Grass killer then you have to be careful not to get it on any of your plants since it would kill them as well as the weeds.

The Preen that I have now is the weed preventer with fertilizer in it. So then I guess it's safe. Thanks!

You do need to be a bit careful fertilizing things that you just planted--it's generally best to wait until they get their roots going a bit, otherwise you can accidentally burn them. So I'd either wait, or see if you can exchange the weed preventer + fertilizer for the plain old weed preventer.

You're right...now that you mentioned it I do remember hearing that before. Thanks for the reminder.
