New Garden Projects This Year #4

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

DonnyBrook! I start cuttings in soilmix or seed starter , anything with a little fertilizer for nourishment ,so yours should be OK.
Glad someone got to use them.
Send Pix and I'll ID for you.
Victor - when you put cuttings in soil they droop for a few says maybe a week, depends on how big the cutting is.
Dont giveup, they revive.
Some coleus are not doing well this year.
I took cuttings of my trailing ones and they are creeping along, others wont stop putting out shoots for more cuttings.
I dont need THAT many plants now(I have the whole winter ) so I controle the numbers by just letting the fast growes go.
Spreaders might have to be ordered next spring if RD does another co-op.

I am sure you are enjoying it better now, the only thing with new beds is that it takes a couple of years before they fill in

but I am patient with my garden next spring I have to move a few things around the pool area made a couple of mistakes with plants that are now to big for the area its ok lots of room in other areas to move them to,

Same here. I need to move som of the sedum away from the lavander.
Who knows what next spring will bring.
I lost a few JI's and just sowed Hollyhocks and lupine and foxglove. My dreams are great - reality is another thing.

joann i had a lot of success winter sowing HH, foxglove and rudbeckia. just cut a plastic milk container in half leaving a hinge, top off, and stuck it outside in january. i have more of all of those than i need. they have completely covered my first stone arch.

Things have changed Jo Ann----wish I could say the same---my per bed is still in flux---that's a better term than "sucks"---I need to do some planning on paper first--don't have the patience my son has!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Wow! Those are big changes, Jo Anne! You go, girl!

I'm forever moving things around. I just place things, regardless of size, but I've been getting better about that. But them sometimes things grow much taller or shorter than the tag says they will, and things need shifting again. My friend Karen moves things even more than I do.

Marilyn, I never plan things out on paper. I have a plan in my head, and I just go with it. It changes as it goes along sometimes.
