Jumper, the arbor is beautiful
New Garden Projects This Year #4
It is lovely! Are you planning on planting something to grow on it? I worked on digging up a bed today---2 large mildewed clumps of phlox went into the compost along with several clumps of liatris---more digging tomorrow---too bad I don't have a clue as to what to replant in there.
I'd love to grow something on it. It's shady there, any suggestions?
Clematis serrattifolia does well in shade. Might be too big for the arbour though :/ Mine is a monster with only a couple of hours of evening sun.
liatris--New England blazing star(the wild one) is DH's pet. Too bad that Bambi also likes it.
Climbing hydrangea is a possibility.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to go looking to see what I can find. IrisMA, no bambis herein town. If I was further out, then I'd have a problem.
I like the liatris too, Iris, but the clumps have really spread---no deer to browse. Today I dug up 2 clumps of overgrown salvias & one veronica----I replanted the veronica.
The arbor looks great, Jumper! Very handy DH!
Wish I had no deer to browse here. Last year they were awful, but this year they didn't eat anything in my gardens. Maybe the coyotes are getting more of them, or perhaps the hunters. Or maybe this is just a very good year for woodland browsing, and they don't have a reason to visit my buffet.

Glad this has been a bettter year for you, Karen---the DLs were beautiful----a shame when they get eaten!
Sure was. I was so worried it would happen again. Every time that though crossed my mind, though, I had to tell myself that everything would be great, and I would have lovely daylily blooms. Yup, that's what happened! Woo hoo!

Positive thinking!
Our thoughts are very powerful.

They are---wish mine ran to the Lotto!
Well, I've been thinking in that direction. I've already won in my mind. He, heee!!!!

I'm jealous, Jumpers Bin is what we need.
Hope the dimentions help.
Are you ready? ^_^ The patio is not quite finished but it's almost mostly finished. I'm going to show the stuff that's not finished first and then finish with a big bang ^_^ This is the part that still has to be finished. Note that I have already put in some creepers (looking sad cuz just transplanting from carolvan's garden in the hot, hot). Also I'm going to have to move the first hosta in the foreground. It's in WAY to much sun.

looking great, D-nut!
This is the expansion that is built into the tiny flower bed. You can see how clayey my soil is EEK! All this was under the old deck. I think there is probably buried treasure in here ^_^ More later on that! This space is all planned. I will post pics later this fall. Just waiting for some spring bulbous things to arrive.

I wish I could paint this place in fabulous colors.
Love the patio and lilac foundation.
I have to admit your soil is far worse than mine.
looking good D-Nut!!
You are so fortunate, Dnut! A wonderful area!
dnut that looks really really great!!
WOOHOO!!! Kudos to your DH, dnut.
Moving plants & building new beds isn't in the marriage vows--it probably should be. Luckily I married a garden nut who worked in the school greenhouse in HS & had gardening mother & two gardening grandmothers. Luckily he has more knowledge than I do.
I love the new patio, D-nut. DH did a wonderful job!
Gee, Iris, you hit the jackpot---I used to pull my DH out to the garden & rattle off all these names to him---he'd just look blank---now, I don't bother him---I teach my Grandkids instead.
No kiddin RD. How wonderful to have a gardening spouse!
