Let's have a boat ride!

Burn, it's never easy to say goodbye. Here is to share a song that Brad's yougest brother has dedicated to his brother in rememberance.

In our western culture, grieve isn't an easy subject to discuss. Some run away from the overwhelming sorrow, some tries to drown the feeling in the bottles (so to speak -- many others try to medicate their feelings in precribed pharmaceutical agents). The best medicine, as I've came to know is our tears, for God has made tears....

His brother did a wonderful song, great talent. I'm sure, that help him express a lot of his feeling too.. Great way of expressing grief. I, so agree with you, tears is a gift from God, it really helps to alleviate some of the pains. And there should be no shame in it.

My son also wrote a song for a friend of his, who died prematurely a few years ago. A lot of feelings went into it too.

Oooh, I apologize. The song isn't written by Brad's brother. But rather he's chosen the song to honor his brother.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

oh that's ok, it was still a great way for him, to honor his brother.

Sandusky, OH

Sorry for your loss Lily. Beautiful way to express your love for him. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Thanks Burd for words of comfort. Time has gone by so swiftly....it has been over two years since Brad died. I can still fancy that Bradley could possibly have spoken those words (from the lyrics above) to me...

I in turn have this song for Brad's brothers and all the brothers and sisters in the world who are still strugling to understand WHY.

Edit for missing music.

It was a beautiful Autumn day, DH and I took a ride down the river. The northern birds have recently migrated South as seen here.

...earlier in the day, there was this one little bird that got lost from the flock.

Another flock of Northern friends arrival to our local lake.

From afar, I think I spotted an eagle;

...zooming into the bird on the branch;

Could it be an Osprey? I can't be certain.

Then we saw the cormorant with what seemed to be a broken wing.

Indeed, its wing was deformed upon close up. It waddled into the water as our boat idled closer;

Nearby a pair of Pekin ducks were keeping each other's company...

As we leave the area; how I wished the cormorant will once again able to fly. Maybe, maybe someday it will.

Yep, Osprey (clearer in the previous pic)

Seems like you had a nice outing on the boat Kim. Sorry to hear about that poor Cormorant wing. Hope he makes it.

Thank you Resin for the possitive I.D. on the Osprey. Burn, it's such a prominent deformity on the poor bird. It pained my heart to learn of such sad happening. Thank you for your well wishes.

Autumn turns out to be a beautiful season this year--Bradley's favorite time of year. DH and I took another boat ride, this time we went further down river to an adjecent lake, where DH used to took his 3 sons fishing...Brad was the oldest of the 3.

We passed by this large forrest-- a wild life management area. The deciduous trees with Fall folliage is spectacular this time of year dispite the late drought in the season.

Further down the creek, we found this big guy who was oblivious to the approaching motor boat. Apparently the noise we made didn't seem to bother it at the least. Dennial manifestation ... Hopefully the guy will experience 'awakening' before it too late -- (if we were pradator coming).

Upon returning home, we found this sweet Eastern Phoebe atop our weeping willow.

To top of the weekend, we prepare to leave for another trip down the river. Mallard ducks et al visiting ...

editted to add: Above post signal end of the trip yesterday. Today we continue with our exploration of the river 30 miles down from where we called home. On Logan Martin Lake.

Many Belted Kingfishers were seen along the shore. I heard Northern Flickers, spotted a pair but wasn't quick enough to capture the flickers in flight.
