Let's have a boat ride!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

In a perfect clear sky day, let's join us for a ride down the river and see some birds. A little way from where we live, DH and I spotted this pair of great Egrets:

Love all the pics!

Did I catch an inflight pix, or did I just shot a blank shot? Let's find out together. :-)

Then we came close to a bridge overhead ....

...there at the bridge we revisited these many mud-nests made by cliff swallows.

There we stirred a resting site of another Heron, so it decided to leave our company.

Then we toured another slough along the way to find yet more egrets:

Welcome GM, anytime y'all ready. Give me a holler. Come down South and enjoy our Southern Hospitality.
I don't cook much, but there is McDonald all over the area. LOL.

Pretty,
What river is that you are on?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Ok another shot at the domestic/pet birds. Those are much too cute.

Hi Julie,

We're on Logan Martin Lake a branch off of Coosa River ... we're close enough to be neighbors.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

As the day ends, we are happy we've had a good day enjoying nature, and sharing the joy with those among us. That was yesterday. Today, was a new day.... We're graceful for each day and the many blessings upon us. Of the family, friends, neighbors and those that graced our lives with enrichment of love and friendships.

I'd like to dedicate this thread to my much love step-son Bradley who passed away this day last summer.

Cool. I thought I saw similarities in flora and fauna... I guess birds are fauna...haha

Bella Vista, AR(Zone 6b)

Sorry, we cross posted. I didn't mean to make a joke after your comment about your step son. Those memories are precious! I lost my husband two years ago and those dates are important, too.
Beautiful shot, by the way.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks Julie, sorry of your husband passing. May your memories be cherished.

Wilmar, AR(Zone 8a)

Enjoyed the cruise down the river, Lily, it was almost like being there...my hubby says he's gonna take me on a boat ride soon but I'd rather wait until it's a little cooler.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Yes, I agreed. The temp. could be pretty hot this time of year. Though, sometimes later in the evening hours it isn't as hot. We've had some soaking rain yesterday evening, and today. Ahhh, temp. is cooling down somewhat. I'm glad you've enjoyed the ride along with us.

PERTH, Australia

Lovely thread, Lily. I'd love to see a Great Blue Heron.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thank you, Margaret, hoping spring will be back soon for you. Do you get to see your Ospreys during the winter there?

Lily, thanks for taking us on a river cruise! I can just hear the water plashing against the side of the boat...

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I'm glad you had a special day to remember Bradley.

PERTH, Australia

Lily, during winter I've had glimpses of them but they've been heard rather than seen. Our Osprey have no need to migrate because of the mild weather throughout winter. However, things have really started hotting up at the nest over the past two weeks. If I knew how to resize my pix on the new computer, I'd start a new thread. Dad Osprey has a beautiful new partner. Aussie was still around until very recently but haven't heard her for a couple of weeks.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Oh Lily, I'm sorry I didn't find your wonderful photos until today! They're great and you have so many beautiful water birds. Our egrets and herons are finally starting to appear more and more on the shorelines and they're so pretty.

I'm very sorry for your loss. There's nothing worse than losing a child-I know. You honored Bradley by sharing this time with us and I'm grateful.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Margaret I'd love to be able to see your pictures of your beautiful Ausie and her parents/step parent. Your writing about those birds are wonderful ...

CL, glad you dropped by. Duc, thank you.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Well lily, I am glad I found your thread. So nice to be on the water with you and see what you see out there. Sorry about the lost of your step son Bradley. Death anniversaries are not easy.
