Hello again. I have a Dictamnus- commonly called "gas plant". I need to move this plant. I know it doesn't like to be moved, but I have no choice. I don't want to lose it, as it is so beautiful in bloom. Has anyone had any luck in moving one of these plants? I won't be moving it until the fall season. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.--Phyllis
Moving a Dictamnus (Gas Plant)
Hi, I moved one successfully, but it was a young plant. Now that it is well established and I am looking for a new address..will consider giving it a try by digging Really deep and
having the new space ready for speedy transfer. A good watering and tamping in will be good for the tap root that I think it has.
I would also recommend giving it a bit of shade, just in case you get a hot spell in the fall. We sometimes get a really hot week in Oct. I wish us both good luck.
Hi Marcia. Thank you very much for your comments. Mine has been there for a few years now. You are right about the tap root. I will certainly give it some shade. I purchased some shade cloth last year and find it excellent for this purpose. Hopefully we will both have good luck moving it like you say.. Have a great day.--Phyllis
Yes, wishing us luck. Having wonderfully cooler than usual weather in July and hoping that it continues for rest of the season!
