Just read the article Seed Starting 101: Setting up Light. It talks about two 48-inch fluorescent tubes being enough light for two standard nursery flats. How big is that? dimensions? I have used trays from commercial greenhouses that held six seedlings each. How many of those in a flat?
Starting Seeds
Mine are 9-1/2" x 20" long. You can fit 2 of these under a 48" light. Walmart sells them.
Here is my setup with a 2 48" fluorescent Gro lamps side by side. I have the shelf hanging on the wall. There is much debate over fluorescent tubes for plants. I have sown seeds indoors for many years and always used plant lights. The have a spectrum of color needed for plant growth that regular tubes don't have.
