Love those Lilies, Pixie.
Nice work, Ngam.
Where do you find time to maintain all that?

Thank-you all for the nice comments. Just like everyone else I never seem to get all the things done that I want to in the garden. Most of the work gets done in the spring with planting, moving and mulching. The mulching and most of the edging is still not done with all the rain this year. Lots of weeds and deadheading to do now especially. With my mom here the last few years I cannot spend the day out there as I would like, but sneak out for ten minutes here and 20 minutes there. I also am not so picky as I used to be and everything doesn't need to be perfect, although it has really got out of hand more than I would like this year. By end of july and aug I hit the wall and then in the cool fall weather get the garden bug again. Already making lists for next spring of gotta gets and gotta move. :)

Thanks for the great tour, D-nut!! Nice digs!

Those lilies along the dog run look great, Celeste. Nice colors!

That looks like a great place to sit and ponder nothing, Pat!

I am seeing I don't have much in the way of "long shots" .... I will have to fix that!

In the meantime .... here is a wide long shot from the SE corner of the backyard (standing in front of the new veggie bed created for some extra seedlings) looking NW, past the fork in the path, over the pond and yard area, toward the house and greenhouse. There is maybe only 6-8 foot of yard behind me. Typical, small suburban plot.

Willie all those evergreen trees make it look a lot larger than you describe.
And pixie I like your bambi a lot better than mine. A wonderful open view you have up there. It is such a contrast to my yard with dense woods almost all around. Do you have trouble with the real deer getting a little too close to the gardens? We are fast approaching the time when the bambi families and all the critters for that matter, will be coming out of the woods to plump up as much as possible for winter.

Ha ha Pat, that Bambi is DH's bow & arrow target. He shoots off the deck to give it that "in-the-tree" effect. The deer come up to the apple tree, thats it. On the left of the photo is my big oak tree and just behind it is an apple tree with a pumpkin patch around it. They come up at night to get away from the coyotes and only eat the apples. Once in a while DH will notice they munched on an apply branch or two. At the bottom of the field is deep woods with a brook running thru it, Mr. Moose, Bambi, Will E Coyote and several others live there.

Ngam, love your jungle... oh its really pretty... yeah, I gave up on "perfect garden" on my first year... but I still think one day I will get rich and get someone do just clean up everything for me so I just have to plant... \
just cleaned up 2 more beds yesterday... got stung twice... darn yellow jackets... they think they can just build a house under the butterfly bush... (yes Andy it's the one you gave me... this year is particularly beutiful) darn it it hurts bad...

by accident I planted these.... kind of like it!!!!

Thanks Kassia, I am tweaking some parts of that bed, can't get it how I want it just yet but closer. Hope the bees leave you alone and your sting is feeling better soon. Hard to avoid those yellow jackets. Looks nice. Is that wild Queen Ann's Lace? I do like the lacy look of it.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

dnut love the pic of your office... oh what a view.... really pretty...

ok, last one, I have to go to work 3-11 this evening.... oh life... overtime this week... yeah, more money for plants...

I love the way your gardens are layed out.
Verry nice.

South Hamilton, MA

Love the design--we have a very non designed garden. I am very fond of tiger swallowtails & dragonflies.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

very pretty... yes I agree your beds are soooo nice

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thank you

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Love them, Bill
In post 6948913 what are the darker maroon flowers on the right toward the back?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

not sure if this is what you meant jen - way in the back by the pond are a couple rose glow barberry like the two in the front - i had moved them from the front of the house and storing them back there until i find a better place for them - that is also where i have a variegated willow.

if it is the maroon on the left those are sedum.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I circled them...

Looks like hollyhock or a small rose of sharon.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

hollyhock from seed - one of the mixed color packets so the maroon was a surprise although worked out very well

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That was my initial guess. Love that color.
How tall are they?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

this has got to be 7 ft tall - i do have it staked to the bird feeder that is there - there are also delph's to the right of it that i just cut back they get about the same height - i can check the seeds i have and tell you exactly what it is.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Very luvly designs wha. I'm thinking my beds are too stuffed with stuff and I need to do alot of dividing. I'm going to lift all the iris and DLs and refresh the soil this f*a*l*l too although this could be doomful. Also I am collecting seed from the 9 foot pacific giant 'beanstalk' delph. Dmail me if anyone wants some seed.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

The small garden in front of the living room window. Three very happy Sedum Autumn Joy, some Canna Tropicana and Dahlia Bishops Children falling over. They stand fine every else,?,?

Pretty.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice, Andy. Which dahlia is that?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice Andy!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

OH I luv that grouping Andy. Maybe not enough food for the dahlias? They are heavy feeders when blooming and sometimes the other guys steal the food if they are planted too close. I'm giving the evil eye to the canna

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Soon as the sun comes up I will have to take some longviews pix.I dont have anything currant
