Last year after thinning out the privet I found numerous passiflora incarnatas on the edge of my woods. They never bloomed though.
I thought that it might help to give them something to climb so I "planted" a log upright to get them off the ground. They are climbing it like mad and look great, but still no buds or blooms. Are they late season bloomers? or can I do something else to help them produce flowers?
Passion vine not flowering
They are supposed to produce flowers from May to July.
The plants like to be on the dry side.
Well, it's almost the end of July, so I guess I'm out of luck one more year.
I never water the vines.
don't give up yet. they are just starting to bloom around here (central florida)
Maybe spray the plant with a liquid bloom promoter.
Make sure they are getting full sun.
Janet
around here they will even bloom in shade but florida sun is probably more intense than alabama sun and promotes bloom even when not directly on a plant.
They get direct sun about half the day. I thought that giving them the post to climb on would help keep them up more in the sun. It helps to know that even in central Florida they are just now starting to bloom.
I love the blooms and I am keeping my fingers crossed!
i remember in years past that they have bloomed earlier but maybe all the rain this spring delayed them.
yay! good for you.
Congratulations!!!!!!
Excellant!
Great photo. Add it to Plant Files.
Actually the Plant Files already has a ton of pictures of the blossoms, but not too many of the buds, so I submitted the one of the buds. Haven't checked yet to see if it "made it".
You know, the pictures really do not do justice either...
Some of the most amazing flowers in nature!
Please show more of the blooms.
i'm very happy for you!
