I found kudzu - the scurge of the south - in my backyard. How do I get rid of this awful vine? I notice across the street there is kudzu growing on a cedar tree and has completely covered the tree. Am afraid this fast growing vine will take over my yard.
how do I get rid of kudzu?
Get busy with a good sturdy shovel is the only way I know! Good luck!
There is only one way to get rid of kudzu once the infestation is noticed: MOVE while you still can. I am not even sure you can get rid of it with Roundup.
Sylvain.
If it is not too big you could clip the vine and paint the cut edge with full strength brush killer (round up or other brand).
If you try to pull it up or dig it up, be sure to get the roots as they can travel along underground for quite a ways.
Good luck!
thanks everyone for your input! I'm planning on using brush killer - small vine is what I noticed.
Borrow a goat and the kudzu will be no more. Seriously.
