Debra I do remember sending the Kawaru but it is supposed to be bluish/purple!! Were the seeds tan?

I like your blue one!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Hi Ronnie yes the seeds were tan... I have two giant pods off of it so far.. it stays open and sometimes opens late afternoon /evening... my pink Miko No Mai also stays open practically all nite.. I have about ten pods of that one cooking...

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Wow Debra that's great! Mine often stayed open later. I would love a couple of seeds from the white if you get enough!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Debra - Your photo here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6899990 looks like Kawaii. I love Kawaii! It is more of a mounding/trailing type of MG. I grow them with Sun Smiles in a pot in an old birdbath. My blooms stay open all day unless the heat and sun get to be too much for them.

I love your deep burgundy Rebecca too! And nice blues as well. Amazing the mixture we get with I. purpureas! Their crosses are really something, aren't they? :-)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Becky, I can't spell, but that's the one .. Ronnie sent it to me, I found the package that I had recieved from her and yes it does mound..

Leander, TX(Zone 8a)

I love all the new ones I have gotten, they have done real well this year.

this one too

That explains why the Kawaru was white and not purple!! Duh... I hadn't even thought of that since I had traded away so many 'Kawaru'!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

LOL well at least you gave some away! they will come back at ya, garrunteed!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Pretty little dark purple one KK...I do think your striped one is a Nil though and not a purpurea. It is pretty!!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Both are lovely KountryKitten! I believe that Ronnie is right. Your purple stripe does look like a different species of MG. It looks to me like an I. nil, too! :-)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

KK this one is really cool, what do the leaves look like?

Leander, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm sorry everyone I just wanted to show off my morning glories too. LOL the leaves josewife is like a mint green with a stripe of white. All of them are just beautiful

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

No reason to be sorry KK!! Loved the photos!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

From the other day.

I have a real pretty Milky Way growing that is a cross, and has the slightest bit of a pink tinge to it. Hopefully I captured it this morning. Have to get them uploaded....

Ronnie, I love that milky way.. Sheesh! I had to pick four pods off your Mix pot tonight...

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Ronnie - WOW! I hope you tagged that bloom! How pretty! You might just be able to create a new I. purpurea cultivar from that one bloom! :-) I love it! ;-)

Nice new strain of Milky Way, Ronnie! Very attractive flower!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks guys, fortunately that one is at the other end of the yard and not to tangled up. I should be able to get a few seeds.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I went home early today, just to see what was blooming in the light misty rain..

very pretty, Debra - love those ruby tints in the purpureas

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

This curtain was in full bloom at 6:30 am, and I found a couple of visitors.. the moon vine ( lavender) and the messina creeper that are in there are both starting to bloom..

Beautiful I. purpureas Debra!!! Nice fence coverage from Rebecca! :-)

Something has just occured to me ...

I wonder if this photo: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6916968 is a faded color? I know that I. purpureas can change colors just like the I. nils as they age and start to wilt later in the day. Debra, do these blooms look like this color first thing in the morning?

Here is my sole flowering purpurea at present time...Cat's Hot Pink, which was an ebay purchase 5 years ago. Seeds were quite viable.

Joseph - Five years and still germinating! Awesome! Hot Pink is the perfect name for it! :-) Nice size leaves, too! :-)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Hey guys I just wanted to let you all know that my photo here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6879126
isn't a sport of MW but one of Joyce Cobb...Becky I think you posted that you had one like that too...can you post a pic of it for me? Ron said the difference is in the star..now let me get it right...the MW star gets thinner as it goes out and the JC gets thicker toward the ends. I never even noticed. How can you not love these flowers with there subtle differences to the untrained eye like me and the distinct difference to the expert eye! I do love this forum for all it's generous info.

Here is one I took this morning
