Let's continue with our attempts to improve the economy.
This is a picture of a "Harriot Waldman" jm i picked up last week.
What have you ordered for 2009 - Part 9
looks very pretty
I like the different leaf colors. Received B&D lily catalog today---have circled about 8---may have to order less---also worried about the lily beetle.
Nice, Bill. I've slowed down on buying lately. Too many things yet to plant, and so much to do here. I will post pics as I get my new to this year stuff planted.
Karen
thx karen - that was my last purchase for a while - i keep finding packages at my garage from coops that i need to plant - if i'm able to figure out where.
Anyone interested in bulbs? Allium, Daffodil, Tulip, Hyacinth Coop is going on w/Bleek as the vender.

I just received some saffron crocus bulbs to try. They are so NOT hardy here but I'm going to try them near the house and the dryer vent.
Still have irises to plant if the rain would let up.
Celeste you are bad - can't make the lobstah bake - need the gas money for bulbs :)
Ha Ha Ha!! Bulbs or lobster? Hard choice.
if you like lobster yes it would be
Love that bush! Too bad you have to move it. It looks happy there.
I, too, have iris to plant, Iris---and DLs, hydrangea, etc. Maybe after dinner tonight---if it's not raining!
celeste i did not get the dmail with the directions so i thought i was shut out of the lobstah bake - i should have said my wife does not eat seafood - hope the 4 lobstahs, 1/2 pd of steamers and 4 ears of corn i woulsd eat do not go to waste.
It didn't Bill! lol
I ate 2, they were soft shell so thats the only reason I could do 2!
Sorry about the dmail, I was busy making a lemon / blueberry cake for desert.
So, did you order any bulbs?? lol;
nice tree Bill
thx ge
not yet celeste - probably look at that list tomorrow - still have the last third of my driveway to put in bulbs - will not be ordering any daff's though - i bought a bunch of expensive fancy ones in the past and they have never shown the colors they did in the catalog.
gotta get me some lobster's
Pixie, can you D-mail the recipe for the cake? Too many blueberries coming all at once!
Robin, sorry to mis-lead you! it's a lemon cake with lemon frosting and blueberries for decoration.
So put blueberries inside the cake. there are also blueberry muffins to try--regular muffins, then add blueberries.
Blue berry Cobbler
Blueberries freeze really well, I have heard.
Yes, they do. I take a large cookie pan andput the blueberries on it in a songle layer and freeze for an hour or two. I then put them in a freezer bag and do another pan ull. I did several gallon size bags like this last year.
Went to the club iris auction yesterday.Best purchase==dwarf henryi (from china) not available on the market. Friends brought a couple medians for us & bought a few median & one tall 'Celtic Lady' a pink from MI so it will grow here.
Well, the lemon cake sounds good, too! I do make a blueberry pudding cake that's easy, blueberry-orange bread also. Went to 2 nurseries in Great Barrington, MA today---prices were outrageous---saw the 'Green Spice' coral bells I wanted for $18.00---I wasn't happy, nor did I buy.
The garden centres haven't dropped their prices here yet either! You would think they would since sales were down this season. I'm holding out til the prices drop on a few things. We must be strong Robin. We must resist the dark side of retail.
LOL! Yes, be strong!
One garden center has dropped prices here, and their prices were low to begin with. I'm holding out, too.
I got free lobstah from my friend Connie a couple weeks ago, which she got for free from a neighbor, and they were big ones. She came over for lunch one day, and we ate in the yard. Yummy! Then a few days later the local Hannafords had small ones for $4.99 a lb., and we got a couple and ate them for lunch. So good! Don't eat lobstah much, so it's a real treat for me.
Karen
Prices seem to be better where Ge & Debi live---I'll be visiting there in a few weeks, so I'll check it out. My DH loves his lobstah, Karen, & was able to enjoy it at the Cape after we left the RU.
I'm glad you got to get some lobstah, Marilyn.
Karen
Only Doug, Karen---no seafood for me! Was looking at a catalog yesterday---going to get some reticulated iris for the spring---hopefully they'll fill in some of the new bed.
I posted, somewhere here, that I purchased a whole bunch of Iris from Zebra Iris Gardens (Brad Kasperek is the owner). They specialize in the broken color pattern (BCP) of Iris, like the popular 'Batik' and 'Gnu Flash.'
They had a sale, while I type this I'm not sure if the sale is still going on, where you can purchase some of their Iris for $5 each! If you purchased 10, you would receive one of their new '09 introductions as a gift...so who am I to say no to a gift? lol. Someone on the forum, I can't remember who (I thought their DG name started with a P...can't remember though) told me about the BCP, and Zebra Iris Gardens...so, THANK YOU!
My order just came in, I sorta kinda forgot about it. The box, HUGE, the packaging, HOLY SMOLEY, and I have no idea what I'm going to do with all of the bonus Iris that they send. I guess they also send a percentage (I believe 20%) of bonus Iris when you order! And boy did they!!!
The first pic is of the order, which includes:
Gnu, Hyenasicle, Jackal Cackle, Salamander Sal, Violet Tiger, Serengeti Spaghetti, Gazellegant, 2 (bonus?) Giraffe Kneehiz, Saharan Sun, Hippo'z Tutu.
The second pic is of the bonus Iris, which includes:
2 Squid Squirt, 2 Peakaboo Zebra, 1 Milennium Falcon, and 2 Kickapoo Kangaroo
Well the website doesn't say that the sale isn't still ongoing...lol...so here is the link:

WOWSER that's some bonus!!!
nice!!
Great haul Thom!!!!
Nice, Thom.
nice score!!!
You get the greatest stuff, Thom---how are your DLs? And hostas? I saw my first slug today, but not on a hosta---it was on a dahlia. I also bought some iris, but not as exotic ---just some reticula, & a mix of English iris---also bought some lilies---speciosa, white, some trumpets, some OTs, & a mix of Orientals---also 'Lesley Woodruff' which I haven't seen in a while.
