great shot Pelle!.. sugar build up??
LOL, not sure. Maybe pollen.
nice ones Nanny & Burn
Thanks Onewish. I was hoping it was one I didn't have, but I have that one. Does it overwinter there? My aunt is PA wants a butterfly bush, but I wasn't sure it would survive.
I finally saw a female ruby throat this week. Usually I have a lot of females by now. Only have half as many hummers here as last year. They may be going to flowers instead of feeders this year since we've had rain and the flowers are growing so much better than during the drought.
beautiful shots Methodical!!
Beclu yes they over winter just fine.. I have 6 different ones... once it's over 50 degrees towards the end of winter I hack them down to the ground.. trunk stays smaller that way
LOL cute Pelle
I have not gotten a photo yet..but there is an adult male that comes in the evening and perches on the branches I have attached to the pole. He was there all evening last night. We are fairly certain that it is Ed. I took away the hook he used in previous years out front. He kept flying up and peering in the window. I couldn't get a pics as it was low there by the time he showed up. We just watched him and kept say to each other..."it HAS to be ED!!"
ANYWAY, back to my juvie male...
Nice ones nanny!
I'm hoping to see some mature males soon.
