MY ANTHURIUM PLANT HAS BROWN SPOTS ON THE LEAVES. WHATS WRONG?
BROWN SPOTS ON MY ANTHURIUM PLANT
Pictures would be great. Some Anthuriums have issues with leaf blight or cercospora leaf spots, that's an option.
Mine always get the brown halfway from the tips of the leaves. I am convinced it is my heat of over 100 degrees every day. In the fall and in the spring, she looks great outside........???
I checked for bugs, none. I don't have a camera to download a picture. I will get one of my kids to download one for me. All I can say is their just brown spots some at the side of the leaf some in the center. I am gonna feed it once it gets a little dryer. Do you think its to much water?
Hard to say, if it's too much water there is usually a yellow ring on the brown, and mainly tipping. If it's spots though It's probably the blight. It's really common. If that's what it is it sometimes looks like its made up of little rings, like when you drop a rock in a puddle. All you can do then is trim off the infected leaves and hope the rest come out clean.
I THINK IT IS TO MUCH WATER. THE BROWN SPOTS HAVE A YELLOW RING AROUND THEM AND THEY ARE ON THE EDGES OF THE LEAVES. SHOULD I TRIM OF THE DEAD SPOTS ON THE LEAVES?
You can trim it up absolutely :) They don't like to stay too wet so let it dry down between waterings. If you've solved the problem the tipping will stop. Where you trim will develop a small brown edge where the leaf heals so don't worry about that. Good luck!
THANKS. I AM SO NEW AT HOUSE PLANTS. I HAVE ABOUT 50 NOW AND THE ANTHURIUM IS SO BEAUTIFUL.
I GOT TWO FOR MY BIRTHDAY BECAUSE THATS ALL I WOULD TALK ABOUT AFTER THE ONE I GOT FOR CHRISTMAS NOT KNOWING WHAT IT WAS TILL IT WAS TO LATE AND IT DIED. I WANT TO DO MY BEST TO KEEP THEM THRIVING. NOW THIS ONE THAT HAS THE BROWN SPOTS THE MOSS ON TOP OF THE DIRT GOT MOLD ON IT. I TOOK IT OFF SHOULD I REPLACE THE MOSS OR LET IT GO? MY OTHER ONE DID'NT COME WITH MOSS ON TOP OF THE DIRT.
Get rid of the moss and check each plant down for dryness with your finger. If the plant feel's dry a few inche's down then give it a drink.
Mold is a sign of too much moisture and not enough air circulation.
Anthurium's are one of my favorite plant's as whole but I will add , alot of anthurium's thrive on high humidity as well.

YES THEY LIKE HUMIDITY. I HAVE THEM ON A TRY OF PEBBLES WITH WATER. IT SITS IN A PLATE SO ITS NOT SETTING IN WATER.
