Last one...he is waving bye bye to everyone!!

please say a little prayer that God will watch over these baby kittens, and all the other animals out there who need help, or good homes, and loving care. If you have the space in your home, please consider fostering a cat or dog for your local shelter or rescue while they search for homes for them....it really does save lives!! If more people fostered, shelters would not have to put nearly as many healthy animals to sleep -
thanks!

I have one that appeared on my doorstep when she was 3 months old and only weighed 2 1/2 lbs. the vet said.........now she is a permanent fixture in my house.................

Oh,how precious!! My son and DH don't like kitties.....they say LOL.....but I think they fell in love with my nephew's cat,who lived with us for a year......and then out of the blue I developed a severe allergy to her.....just about broke my heart. She sat behind me all the time with her tail around my neck or layed on me if I took a nap........sigh. I will find a picture of her.

Beautiful! Where is she now? Must have killed you to have to give her up!

jmp24: What beautiful fur babies ... so wish I could adopt one or two or three of them!

Ibrabec: "Lucky" is a beauty! We had a kitty named Lucky years ago. I rescued her from where I worked. One of the warehouse guys came into the office one day with this little kitten they found behind a wooden pallet, asking if anyone was willing to take it. I was the only one who wanted her! The boss said I should call her "Lucky" because she was a lucky cat to find a good home ... so the name Lucky stuck.

We are down to just one "older" kitty now. Princess was my mom's cat. We inherited her 4 1/2 years ago when my mom passed away. We had four other cats at the time and Princess came into this house wanting to take over! I always said she should have been named Queen because she wanted to rule the household. She tried to attack the other cats every chance she got and they were so afraid of her the first year or so. Eventually they got so they wouldn't back down, and put her in her place. The other kitties have passed away and now Princess is finally the only child, which she wanted from day one! Funny thing is, now she walks down the hall, looking in each room, meowing loudly, looking for the Cali (our last sweet kitty that died in May). She will even peek into the closet looking for her because that was one of Cali's safe places where she used to hide at times.

I take dog and cat food out to our local Humane Society once a month and I just want to take every kitty and doggie home with me every time I go out there. It's just so sad to see how so many animals are dumped. Many think of them as property, not members of the family. The house across the street from us is a rental and this afternoon I noticed a dog barking and crying and walked out to the front yard and they've tied this poor dog up in a corner of the yard and it's so sad. I really get upset when I see how some people treat their pets. I get really mad when I see people with their dogs in their cars, letting the dog hang half way out the window while riding down the road! About 20 years ago I was on my way back to work after lunch and a guy a pickup in front of me had his dog hanging out the window. Their was a bicyclist on the side of the road and the dog went out the passenger window (with the vehicle going 45 mph). He wasn't hit by any cars, thank goodness everyone was able to stop in time. But, that poor dog bounced and bounced really hard in the road before he finally landed. He got up and was very wobbly and disoriented. The owner pulled over and ran to get him. I have no idea what happened afterwards but I'm pretty sure he must have had some internal injuries from the way he was hitting the road.

The past two weeks I've seen three or four dogs hanging out the window of cars! Grrrr! It really upsets me. I want to scream at people when I see that! They wouldn't allow their toddler children to hang halfway out a car window but they don't seem to think anything about letting their dogs do it! I've heard people say, oh my dog wouldn't jump out ... but, how can they know that? A dog sees a squirrel or something and it's natural instinct to will want to chase it. They don't have the brains to reason how fast that vehicle is traveling! And, obviously their owners don't have the brains to realize it can happen. Ok ... sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now!

This is our Princess ... one spoiled rotten kitty!

Since we are into a new month, I began a new Off Topic thread here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1026256/

I also hate animal cruelty!! There is a dog living behind the house across the street that barks constantly.Apparently the owners can't stand it so they throw the poor thing outside. It is out there in 90-100 degree heat and this winter during freezing temperatures, snow and blizzard conditions all night long.Numerous complaints from neighbors have had no results.A man that lives by them goes out and blows a loud airhorn to try to retaliate I quess. It's so sad. It's not the poor dogs fault. It needs proper care and training. It is a Peke...can't spell the rest.

When she was just a kitten,my nephew heard loud crying one 4th of July and found Lucky on top of his hot BQ grill. She must have been very hungry!.All of her paws were burned. He rescued her, took her to the animal hospital and nobody ever claimed her. That's how she was named.
He got himself in some trouble and lived with us for a year and a half. After I got so sick,a friend of his took her for another year. She is now back with him at last.....poor thing.I quess maybe things work out for the best.If I had been able to keep her 2 years by myself,I don't know if I could have given her back.......it was hard enough the way it was.
Funny what people see.My best friend said 'that is the ugliest cat I've ever seen' with all those different colors of fur.I think she has beautiful markings and a cute little face.

Lynn, and anyone else who lives near a dog that seems to be abandoned to the backyard, on a chain, and obviously abused, ignored, or unhappy, please contact Dogs Deserve Better online- its a group that is against chaining, works to bring the dog back into the home with the rest of the "pack" where it wants to be - no dog wants to be all alone or tied up! If you give DDB the address, anonymously if you prefer, they will send an area rep to check up on the situation and try to work with the family/owner to resolve the problem that led to the dog being consigned to the yard. Their first priority is to have the dog back inside with the family, but if that can't be done, they help people to pay for fencing so the dog can run free, they help get a decent dog house, help with training if that is the problem, and sometimes in cases where families jsut dont want the dog anymore and are happy to surrender them, DDB fosters/adopts them to loving homes.

Its a great group and they WILL do what they can to help!! if you cant find them online, dmail me and I will give you a link

Chaining is now illegal in my state!

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the info Jmp!! It is not chained and has free run of the yard, but it certainly needs some TLC.

Medford, NJ

Yay Phoebe!!! So good to hear. It has been made illegal or is extremely limited in alot of NJ counties (like you can only chain for 8 hrs a day etc)

Lynn, does the dog have decent shelter, like a wood dog house, built so the bottom floor is up off the ground, a flap at the door, straw inside etc? Does it have food and fresh water? I am not sure what the laws are in your state, some places you have to bring your animals inside when the temps get so low, or too high. It would be worth looking into. Dogs freeze to death or die from the heat all the time.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Jmp,
I can't see the dog's yard unless I go across the street to one of the neighbor's backyards.I will have them check more closely.
Lynn
