Ibrabec: "Lucky" is a beauty! We had a kitty named Lucky years ago. I rescued her from where I worked. One of the warehouse guys came into the office one day with this little kitten they found behind a wooden pallet, asking if anyone was willing to take it. I was the only one who wanted her! The boss said I should call her "Lucky" because she was a lucky cat to find a good home ... so the name Lucky stuck.

We are down to just one "older" kitty now. Princess was my mom's cat. We inherited her 4 1/2 years ago when my mom passed away. We had four other cats at the time and Princess came into this house wanting to take over! I always said she should have been named Queen because she wanted to rule the household. She tried to attack the other cats every chance she got and they were so afraid of her the first year or so. Eventually they got so they wouldn't back down, and put her in her place. The other kitties have passed away and now Princess is finally the only child, which she wanted from day one! Funny thing is, now she walks down the hall, looking in each room, meowing loudly, looking for the Cali (our last sweet kitty that died in May). She will even peek into the closet looking for her because that was one of Cali's safe places where she used to hide at times.

I take dog and cat food out to our local Humane Society once a month and I just want to take every kitty and doggie home with me every time I go out there. It's just so sad to see how so many animals are dumped. Many think of them as property, not members of the family. The house across the street from us is a rental and this afternoon I noticed a dog barking and crying and walked out to the front yard and they've tied this poor dog up in a corner of the yard and it's so sad. I really get upset when I see how some people treat their pets. I get really mad when I see people with their dogs in their cars, letting the dog hang half way out the window while riding down the road! About 20 years ago I was on my way back to work after lunch and a guy a pickup in front of me had his dog hanging out the window. Their was a bicyclist on the side of the road and the dog went out the passenger window (with the vehicle going 45 mph). He wasn't hit by any cars, thank goodness everyone was able to stop in time. But, that poor dog bounced and bounced really hard in the road before he finally landed. He got up and was very wobbly and disoriented. The owner pulled over and ran to get him. I have no idea what happened afterwards but I'm pretty sure he must have had some internal injuries from the way he was hitting the road.

The past two weeks I've seen three or four dogs hanging out the window of cars! Grrrr! It really upsets me. I want to scream at people when I see that! They wouldn't allow their toddler children to hang halfway out a car window but they don't seem to think anything about letting their dogs do it! I've heard people say, oh my dog wouldn't jump out ... but, how can they know that? A dog sees a squirrel or something and it's natural instinct to will want to chase it. They don't have the brains to reason how fast that vehicle is traveling! And, obviously their owners don't have the brains to realize it can happen. Ok ... sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now!

This is our Princess ... one spoiled rotten kitty!
