Mulching a Hill

Hi. I'm not sure if my earlier post actually posted. I have a 45 degree hill in my backyard and it is very visible from inside my house. I thought about mulching it (it's now bare) and a weed magnet) but know the mulch would just slide off the landscaping fabric. Any ideas on how to keep the mulch down or a good looking ground cover for zone 5a?

I can't find the thread right now, but a DG member posted instructions and pictures of her sloped front yard. I followed her directions (mostly) and it worked well.

Basically, you kill the weeds/grass. Spread layers of wet newspaper to keep any new weeds from popping up through the mulch (I used 6 sheets or more). Then, get burlap, which comes in rolls, and carefully pin down with those metal U shaped pins. Mulch the hill - use shreddy, fine mulch rather than the lightweight chunky stuff. The mulch should stick to the burlap. Eventually the burlap rots away but the mulch will form a sort of mat and unless water is flooding down the slope or deer are kicking it all over, it should stay in place pretty well.

I planted shrubs before putting in the layers of newspaper, burlap, and mulch. Here's a picture of my project last summer, partially finished.

Juno, bless your heart for responding! I was starting to look online for ground cover ideas, but I really wanted to mulch instead. The steepness of your slope is similar to mine, so you have inspired me. :) I will try your idea. Thanks!
